Perfection

Chapter 6

¨Message from Luke¨ I felt like I was going to burst into tears. Luke was okay!! Then a rock hit my window. I looked out and there was LUKE!!!!!! I was so incredibly happy. I couldn't believe it. I shot like a bullet down the stairs and out my door. I didn't even see where I was going. I tripped over a rock, but guess who caught me. Luke. I looked up at him and smiled. I grabbed Luke and hugged him as hard as I could.  ¨What happened to you??¨ I asked him remembering last night's events. ¨I don't know what you are talking about Spence, but nothing happened¨ Luke said smiling. 

Just then the bus rolled up. I got in and texted Luke even though we were right next to each other. ¨Why did the authorities gag you and handcuff you last night¨ I texted him. ¨That never happened¨ Luke said. But I know what I saw. As we were arriving at school I could not stop thinking about what happened, I was so lost in thought that when I was getting off the bus I tripped over my own feet (again) and fell down the 3 steps that lead you outside. CRUNCH. Well, there goes my nose. 

I got up and felt faint, dizzy even. Luke was right next to me and he asked me ¨Are you Okay!?¨ but he sounded faint, far away. I then saw blackness creeping up on me and before I knew it I was on the ground and passed out.  

I woke up in the nurse's office, Luke was sitting there right next to me when I finally woke up. ¨Hey Spence, are you alright¨ Luke said in a quiet voice ¨Mhm, owww¨ I groaned. ¨I will go get the nurse¨ Luke said. I groaned. My nose hurt so bad, and I didn't know what to do.

 ¨Hi sweetie, how are you feeling¨ the nurse asked ¨Fine, it's just that my nose hurts really bad¨ I responded. After some small tests, the nurse concluded that I had just hit my nose really hard. I almost broke it though. So I would have to go to the doctor after school. Luke and I walked back to class silently. ¨Not to be mean Luke...but this was your fault¨ I said ¨How?¨ Luke responded, ¨Well you wont even tell me what happened last night and I was thinking about it so much that I fell!¨ I snapped. ¨Come on Spence, I already told you nothing happened.¨ Luke said but with such confidence that I almost believed him. Almost.

I saw Tyler that day, I apologized for not going to the movies and asked him out on Wednesday. ¨Oh sure¨ Tyler said when I asked. I looked over to Luke. Usually, he would have gotten mad by now, or earlier he would have snapped at me. Luke was being much too calm. And in an instant, I knew. This was not my Luke.
