By the time I finished signing the last file of the day, my eyes were sore and my back was killing me because of all the work I did the whole day, working over various projects and going through heaps of files.
"I am going call it a day." I said to myself as I looked at my wrist watch which showed it was half past eleven. All my staff left the office around 6 PM and I gave an off to Khanna.
I stretched the strained muscles, standing by the glass windows of my office, as I watched the city glow with the lights in the night, except a few older men, who were enjoying the tea over a bonfire in the park opposite to my office and some food delivery guys the roads were almost deserted.
The men were laughing among themselves, enjoying the tea in the earthen cups. An involuntary smile formed on my face, as I watched the men enjoy their time happily.
"At least they have a privilege to sit and relax after a strenuous day." I sighed.
I was collecting my things to head back home, when my cabin door creaked open, revealing the person I expected the least at this moment.
"Hello, Mr. Oberoi."
"Ms.Jackson, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit at this hour of the night?" I questioned in a calm tone as I stood leaning against my desk.
"Well, Mr. Oberoi I brought this new dress and thought of asking your opinion about the same." Ms. Jackson said in a low seductive voice as dropped her black fur coat on the floor and stood in, what I could barely acknowledge as clothes.
"What do you think, Mr. Oberoi." She said taking slow steps towards my direction.
"I think you should cover up your malnutrition looking body and get the hell out of here." I said in a serious tone making Rachel stop in her tracks.
"What?" She asked incredulously.
"I said, get the fuck out of here." I said in cold and serious tone making her grab the coat and cover herself.
"And Ms. Jackson, you are fired." I said as I walked past her grabbing my keys off the table.
"Nathan, please help Ms. Jackson pack her things and escort her out of this building, make sure you don't let her step into the office premises again." I instructed the security guard, as I walked towards my car.
I parked my car in the garage and was making my way inside the home, when I spotted Gauri sitting on the garden bench looking at the night sky.
"Hi." I greeted breaking the silence.
"Hi Omkara, how was your day?" Gauri asked smiling at me.
"It was hectic." I sighed placing my coat on the bench as Gauri moved to the end making space for me to sit. "How was your day?" I asked sitting in the other end of the bench.
"Same old and boring day." Gauri shrugged, "even Dad went to Canada to attend a conference." She informed.
"Dad seldom stays at home, he says this home reminds him of my mom."
Gauri nodded.
"Your look tired." Gauri stated after a few minutes of silence.
"Yes, had a heavy load of work at office, first there was an error in the data and then there was huge difference in the balance sheet, the investors absurd demands and as a cherry on the top, my pain in the neck assistant." I complained making Gauri chuckle.
"You indeed had a tiresome day." Gauri agreed, "would you like to have some coffee or tea?" She asked.
"I am a coffee person," I said, " I will ask Mrs. Potts to make some coffee for me, I terribly need one."
