chapter 1

JADE’S P.O.V

School was finally over! Yayayayay, now I could go diving! I love diving and I would die if I didn’t do it once a day. Im like a fish, I will die if im out of water to long! Seriously its true! I picked up my school books and stuffed them in my bag. I walked out of the classroom, down the stairs and to my locker. I spun the code, which was 1998 (shhhh don’t tell ;), and flung the door open. I grabbed my swimming kit and chucked it over my shoulder.

“whooooo, careful! You nearly smacked my beautiful face in with that!” Indi laughed.

“Sorry!” I replied “are you coming to me watch me dive tonight?”

“Yeah if you don’t mind?!” Indi said quietly. I nodded my head in approval and linked arms with her. The swimming pool was just a couple blocks away. We skipped down the pavement. Soon enough we had arrived. As me and Indi walked through the doors, I realised that my least favourite receptionist was on duty today! I smiled as I walked past her and walked through the doors to the changing rooms.

I grabbed the first cubicle I found and changed into my togs ( because I was diving I couldn’t wear a bikini), I stuffed my school clothes in my bag and walked out of the cubicle. I shoved my bag into a locker and walked over to the showers. I took a power shower before walking over to the diving boards. To my luck Indi was already there.

“Jade, you’re here!” Rhiannon my coach shouted as I walked up to her.

“Hey! My friend has come to watch, if you don’t mind.” I smiled back

“That’s fine. Now let’s get started. Let’s start with an easy dive. How about a backflip?” she replied. I nodded and climbed the ladder. I walked to the edge of the diving board, lifted my hands in the air and jumped. I flipped over and landed in the eater with a small splash. When I surfaced I could hear clapping. I smiled and jumped out of the pool.

“Brilliant!” Rhiannon smiled “how about a double now?” I climbed up the ladder again and did my next dive. Every time I surfaced I would hear clapping and then I would have a harder dive. I did a couple more flips into the water then Rhiannon told me to take 5. I grabbed my towel and drink while I was walking over to Indi.

“How good was I? And I want the truth!” I asked

“You were brilliant! When you did the….. Oh sweet baby that boy is so hot!” replied Indi.

“What boy!?” I asked looking around “I can’t see any…… dihdladiilqsaliidhdwa he is so hot!”. He was perfect! He had perfect hair, perfect eyes, perfect smile, perfect teeth, and perfect body! Wait…… was that a six pack!? Wow he was hot!

“AHHHHHHHHHHH! Calm down Jade, calm down!” I screamed 

We both laughed and squealed. Suddenly I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see who it was and felt a shiver go down my spine. It was him!!

“Hi im tom. I have just started here.” He smiled. I blushed slightly 

“Hi im Jade. It’s nice to meet you.” I replied while shaking his hand. Suddenly Indi pushed her way through.

“Hi im Indi. Im Jades best friend, I hope. It’s nice to meet you.” She blabbed. She rushed her speaking when she was nervous. I looked at her and frowned. She understood what I meant and moved backwards.

“sorry about her.” I smiled “ so, I guess this us your first day her?.” Once these words came out of my mouth I realised how stupid it sounded. I blushed again.

“Yep, I can’t wait to get onto that diving board!” Tom pointed towards the 10 m diving board. I smiled and looked around, I felt so awkward.

Suddenly I heard someone shout my name. I turned to see Rhiannon waving for me to go over.

“One second!” I shouted to her.

“So are you in the below group or advanced group tom?” I asked quickly.

“Advanced” he replied. I grabbed his arm and pulled him over to Rhiannon.

“So I see you have met our new pupil.” She smiled. I nodded while looking up at Tom. He was listening to that Rhiannon had to say. Suddenly I couldn’t take my eyes off him. Luckily that trance was broken by Rhiannon.

“So Tom, are you going to show us how you dive?” she asked politely

Of course I will. What dive would you like me to do?” Tom replied.

“It’s up to you love.” Rhiannon exclaimed. Tom nodded and walked over to the ladder. He made his way up the ladder and walked to the tip of the board. He placed his hands in the air and took a couple of deep breaths before he jumped. He did four beautiful backflips before gracefully landing in the water, making the tiniest of splashes. I was blown away. Me, Rhiannon and Indi all clapped as he got out.

“ star quality!” I smiled at him. He winked and then climbed up the ladder again. We did a couple more dives each and before we knew it, it was time to go home. We got out of the pool and said our goodbyes to Rhiannon. We then stepped into the showers. Me and Tom both got out at the same time. I smiled as I went to the locker that my stuff was in. he smiled back and then disappeared around the corner. I ran off to find a changing room as fast as I could knowing boys only took five seconds to get changed.

Once I was finished I stepped out of the changing rooms and to my surprise tom was already finished. I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder and he turned around to look at me, his chocolate brown eyes looking at mine.

“see you tomorrow then?” I turned my sentence into a question.

“ yeah see you tomorrow.” He replied. I smiled and walked away to find Indi. As soon as I saw her I pulled her to the front desk. To my luck another women was at the desk.

“ hello, how could I help you?” she asked. She was better than fake face.

“could I sign me in for my diving lesson I just had please? I forgot to when I came in.” I replied.

“ sure could I get your name?”

“Jade Green.”

“ yep, ok I have signed you in.”

“ thank you.” Me and Indi linked arms and walked out of the doors.

“ ahhhh, fresh air.” Indi sighed as we walked up the pavement. I laughed. The rest of the walk home we were silent. As soon as we got to Indi’s door I hugged her.

“See you tomorrow morning!” Indi called as she went inside. I smiled and walked the rest of the way home.

“My mamma told me not to waste my life she said spread your wings my little butterfly.” I mumbled to myself as I walked through the front door.

“Jade is that you?” my mum called from the kitchen

“No mum! Im a burglar who just happens to have keys to the house!” I sighed “im going to sleep coz im tired!” I chucked my bag across the floor so it landed by the washing basket and legged it to the stairs. I hopped into the shower and did my usual routine. I slipped into my pj’s and flopped into bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep.
