you should put your pronouns in your bio even if your cis.

trans people put their pronouns in their social media bios to avoid being misgendered online. UNFORTUNATELY, this makes it very easy for online transphobes to seek them out and target them with hate. transphobes often use slurs, the wrong pronouns or dead names to attack these individuals, making the internet a very scary place for the trans community at times.

if you are cisgender (you identify with your natural born gender), then one of the easiest ways you can help the trans community is to put your pronouns in your bio. not only does this normalise pronouns being in people's bios, making trans people feel much more comfortable in doing that, it also makes it much harder for transphobes to single out and target trans individuals.

misgendering individuals can contribute greatly to gender dysmorphia (feeling uncomfortable with your birth gender). this can cause them to feel uncomfortable in their voice, physical appearance and many other aspects of themselves.

if you are cisgender, you should take a moment to put your pronouns in any social media that you use's bio. however, you should not put (cis) in brackets at the end. by doing this you completely counteract what we were trying to achieve by putting our pronouns in. you are essentially alerting the transphobes that you are not trans, allowing them to easily distinguish trans individuals from cisgender individuals, and continue their hate without any real interruption. remember, the aim is to make it as difficult as possible for them to identify members of the trans community online.
