Athena's POV
I'm not one to rush things unless it's a big deal, and this, this is a huge deal. Draco and I hurriedly found ourselves a compartment on the train. We sat down on the seats and propped our feet up on the opposite bench. Binx curled up beneath the seats and the train started moving. Once we got comfortable, two plump boys along with a pug faced girl plopped onto the seat that we had our feet on. "Excuse me. My feet were right there." I said to the shrimpy girl. "Oh didn't realize. The name's Pansy, Pansy Parkinson" she addressed holding out her hand. "Oh well hello. I'm Athena Carrow". "Anyways Draco, you hoping to get put in Slytherin" one of the plump ones said. "of course you bumbling bafoon. I've only wanted to be in that house since I was a toddler" Draco spat. "Sorry miss, we never introduced ourselves to you. I'm Vincent Crabbe and this here is Gregory Goyle." Crabbe said holding out his chocolate covered hand for me to shake. I brought out a napkin I had in my bag and wrapped it around his hand to shake it. "How'd you find this looker here Malfoy?" Goyle asked."Why's it matter to you how I found her" Draco spat like venom. "You know I'm sitting right here" I said. "Sorry love, it's just my apprentices never know when it's their turn to speak" Draco said. "They're okay Draco" Draco called me love, but we've only just met. Somehow I'm afraid he likes me. No, someone like him could never like someone like me. Oh my god Athena, where is this coming from. Of course he likes you, you're a pureblood and you're gorgeous. What's not to like, I mean yeah the personality is a little iffy at times, but who's isn't. Snap out of it, you don't want the sorting hat to put you in hufflepuff. Your family would be so disappointed if they found out you were a hufflepuff.
We don't need that mindset today. You are getting sorted into slytherin no matter what. Whoever stands in the way will hear from your father. Father has always been scary to other people. To him, you are his princess and no one can touch you. At least that's how he acts in public. I wish other people could see him when we're at home. He cries at night, he doesn't think I see him. I know his pain, feeling like you're the only person who understands. Sometimes not even you understand and it makes you cry even more. At least mother is there for him when I can't be.
I finally snap out of my thoughts when the train comes to a stop. I gather up my things and put them together. We head out the train and there's a giant man standing there yelling "first years, first years this way." He was quite the hairy man. I would even say he looked beast-like. Probably a filthy half-breed, knowing Dumbledore, that is most likely the case.
We all board the boats and finally arrive at the school. We meet in the hall with a tall wrinkled lady. She appeared to be in green robes with a tall witches hat. "Hello first years, I am Professor Mcgonagall. Shortly we will begin your sorting. There are 4 houses Gryfindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. Gryfindor is for the brave. Ravenclaw is for the naturally intelligent. Hufflepuff is for the patient and Slytherin is for the cunning." Professor Mcgonagall exclaimed. "Everyone follow me into the great hall". We all did so, everyone's eyes on us. I was a little nervous, but I had to put up my confident facade. Father always says that confidence is key and personal barriers are the way to success. I believe every word he says. If you can't put up those barrier, you are weak. Father can be a little hardcore sometimes but, it's not father I'm scared of. Mother is even worse, or was before I turned 7. I was pulled out of my thoughts by Draco waving in my face. "Athena? Are you okay". "Oh yeah I'm fine, just daydreaming a bit" I said. "We will now start the sorting, Hermione Granger" the filthy mud blood walked up to the stool and Mcgonagall placed the hat upon her head, it waited for a second and soon after the hat shouted Gryfindor. No wonder she's in Gryfindor only a mud blood would be brave enough to speak that much.
After a couple more people were called up it was Draco's turn the sorting hat didn't even reach his head before it screamed out Slytherin. It was finally my turn. I sat up on the stool and the hat was placed upon my pitch black hair. "Ahh, yes, a Carrow. How very peculiar. You seem to have traits from every house yes indeed. Intelligent for sure but, brave. Patience is definetly present and ambitious above all. I wonder what to do with you." "You will not put me in Hufflepuff, Gryfindor is too stuck up, Ravenclaw would be okay but I would not be happy. I demand to be put in Slytherin. It's my way or I leave this school forever." I said to the hat. "You'll be great you know. One of the best witches I've ever seen". "I know but, not one of the best. I will be the best". "Must be SLYTHERIN!" The hat exclaimed. I ran over to Slytherin table and hugged Draco. I've never been more happy in my life. "That took a while love, what did the hat say to you" Draco asked. "Nothing you should worry about, let's just say I can be pretty persuasive" "Oh wow, okay. Let's eat I'm starved". Dinner ended and we were all extremely full. We headed down to the common room and it's was freezing. I guess that's what happens when you're in a dungeon underwater. Draco and I sat on the black leather couch in front of the fire. We talked about our families all night until the prefects came down and told us we had about fifteen minutes until lights out. I was about to get up when I had noticed that Draco fell asleep on me. He looked so adorable. I grabbed a blanket from the top of the couch and wrapped it around us. I closed my eyes and fell asleep with Malfoy in my arms. Sweet dreams Draco...

So I know that some parts were left out. Such as parts of the train and the sorting, but that was on purpose. I was speaking with one of my readers and she had some amazing suggestions. I will be looking to her for more input on the story. Until then however...critique me in anyway you'd like.
