POV: Luz
I awoke to the sound of the alarm clock ringing in my ear. I opened my eyes, groaning as the alarm clock continued to ring. It took me a moment, and then when I remembered, I sat back up. I turned off the alarm clock and quickly grabbed my purple and white hoodie, sliding it on. I slipped on a pair of leggings and then a pair of jeans shorts over them."There, ready for the day!" I said with a smile. Well, I was ready except for having to actually get to school. See, today is my first day at Hexside. No, it wasn't the end of summer, but rather I was in a new town completely. The small cramped room was a change from my large room with a big bed before. This was just a closet. A messy closet that I had been shoved in last minute. I didn't mind, though, because I felt comfortable with the enclosed space. I opened the door, trying not to step on the black and white cat with a small little crown curled up on the edge of my sleeping bag. The door opened out to a large, but messy living room. Objects were scattered across the floor, and only thing clearly there was the pale red couch and the pictures scattered across the wall. A lady with silver hair and a red dress sat on the couch, clicking through channels on the TV that was on the wall.
"Goodmorning Eda!" I chirped, as I picked up my bag.
"Ready for school, I see?" Eda said.
I nodded. "First day of Hexside and I am pumped up!" I said happily.
"Well, kid, you can drop out at any minute. You can be a bad girl like me." Eda said with a grin.
"Ok Eda, but I think I'm staying in this school!" I said.
I put my backpack on my back, and opened the door.
"I'm going to get walking, Eda, see you after school." I said, as I walked out the door.
I heard Eda say goodbye after me, but I was already out the door. I began walked, following the path the led to the forest. Of course I have to walk through the forest and most likely get lost, I thought. It took me a while, but I finally made it out of the forest. A large path lead from the forest up to a large building. "Hexside." I breathed, stepping forward. Students were gathered in front of the school, talking to each other. As I took a few steps forward to enter the school, something caught my eye. A green haired girl was talking to a smaller girl with dark blue hair. She ripped a project that the blue-haired girl had in her hands, and it was now laying smashed on the ground. I took a step forward, but the green haired girl had already walked off. I clenched my fists and walked over to her.
"Are you ok?" I asked.
The blue-haired girl looked up at me.
"Ya. Amity's just a jerk." The blue-haired girl muttered, picking up her broken project.
"She shouldn't treat you that way." I pointed out.
"I haven't seen you around, are you new?" The blue-haired girl asked, fixing her glasses.
"Yes! First day. Luz Noceda, at your service!" I said, holding out my hand.
"Willow. We should probably head to class" The girl responded, shaking my hand.
I nodded, walling into school. I found a locker that had a sticky note to it so I knew it was mine. I had nothing inside my bag so I just stuffed my bag inside the locker and closed it. There was a sudden sound of a bell and everybody rushed past me. Crap, I have no schedule, I thought. I started to panic until I saw a paper on the bottom of the locker. I picked it up and read it. It read: Period 1, Math. I set the paper down and then headed off to class.
The classes flew by like they did in my old school. Maybe even faster. I had been introduced to each of my classes, the teachers saying I was a new student. I was mainly greeted with kindness, despite the few people who muttered things under their breath when I had been introduced. That included the green haired girl from before, I think her name was Amity. What is her problem, I wondered. It wasn't my business. As long as she doesn't do anything to hurt anybody, I was fine with her. Besides that, classes went well too. I was able to answer questions in all classes that didn't have Amity in them. Amity was always the quickest to shoot her hand up. She was in fact highly intelligent. It made me start to wonder if Amity had broke her project simply to help Willow, but then again that was most likely not the case. She supposed every school had a bully, and Amity was the bully. Along with the two girls named Boscha and Skara who tagged after her constantly. Throughout her classes, I had realized something. Amity was a jerk, Boscha was a braggar, and Skara just their friend who follows after them. There was Willow who was quiet but quite clever, and another boy who she had met named Gus, who was also quite smart, considering that the boy was younger than the rest. As I took a step out of the building, I ran into a figure. Of course, it was Amity. "Watch it!" The girl snapped, staggering back. I toppled over, falling forward and tumbling down the stairs. The sound of laughter arose from the teenagers around me. I shook the sound off and got up, taking my bag and slinging it back over my shoulder. I then stormed off into the woods, taking the path back to Eda's house.
