POV: Luz
As I walked home from school, my mind was full of thoughts. I wonder what Amity had took of my note. Maybe she would just do what it said. Maybe she would continue to be mean. There was plenty of possibilities. I opened the door to Eda's house and walked in. The old lady was nowhere to be seen, so I guessed she was out running errands. I slammed the door shut and then sat down on the couch. I turned on the TV, clicking through channels. It wasn't long until a knock sounded on the door. I didn't move. The knock sounded again and I stood up and walked over to the door. I opened it. Amity stood there. I stood frozen, deciding whether to let her in on shut the door in her face. Amity didn't give her a chance, storming past me, nearly knocking me over.
"Hey!" I snapped.
"Woah, calm down. I was just coming in while you were standing here frozen." Amity said, a hint of bitterness in her voice.
"Oh so you just ignored my note all together?" I huffed.
"No, I didn't. I came here because of that." Amity said, calming her voice a bit.
"What do you need?" I asked, calming myself too.
"I just wanted to talk....to you." Amity muttered.
"Then talk." I said.
"I know I haven't been the...best person." Amity admitted.
"Ya...you haven't." I said, rubbing my arm.
"Look, I don't mean to be mean, I just have a different way of treating people." Amity choked out.
"I get it." I said.
"You...do?" She said, tilting her head.
"Look, Amity, I don't want you to feel bad. I'm used to being bullied, I used to those type of words, it would have been better if you had just ignored me." I explained.
"How are you used to that?" Amity asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"In my old school I was the weird girl, even my mom thought so. That's exactly why I ran away from there. To maybe fit in somewhere." I explained, the memories of the night I ran away flooding back to me.
My mom. Oh god I missed my mom. All those ignored texts and phone calls. She must be so worried. The police might even be looking for me by now. They probably were. I'd been missing from home for a week. My mom probably thinks I'm dead.
"Luz!" Amity said, snapping me out of my thought.
I looked up at Amity.
"Yes?" I said.
"You zoned out there." Amity said.
"I do that a lot, sorry." I said, chuckling nervously.
"We're you even listening to me?" Amity asked, the annoyance beginning to rise in her voice again.
"I didn't hear a single word." I said, shaking my head.
"I asked how you could live without your mom being there." Amity said.
"Eda replaces her." Luz said.
"So you just replaced your mom? Great daughter you are." Amity said, the bitterness coming back to her voice once again.
"You wouldn't understand because you have perfect life with rich parents and great grades." I said, raising my voice to match the tone of Amity's.
Amity smirked, chuckling a bit. The smile then faded and Amity looked straight at me.
"Nobody has a perfect life." She said.
I stood there frozen for a bit, shocked at how serious her words sounded. It actually kinda worries me. I stared back at her, and then thought for a moment. Maybe she didn't have as perfect a life as it seems. There was a sudden tension in the air, and I wanted to lighten the mood.
"Well you're perfect." I chirped, cracking a smile.
I swear I could see her blush.
"Never say that again." Amity grumbled.
I chuckled. That definetly lightened the mood.
"Just sayin." I said in a sing-song voice.
"You are extremely annoying." Amity said.
"Hey, I was just trying to be nice~" I said.
Amity sighed.
"Thanks, I guess." She said, smiling a bit.
Yes! I made her smile!, I thought excitedly. Actually I haven't seen Amity smile at all since I got here. I guess she was started to like me. I smiled. Yes! New friend!, I cheered in my mind. Maybe we'd become best friends? I kept rambling on and on in my brain.
"Luz your zoning out again." Amity said, now in a more teasing voice.
"Sorry." I said, rubbing the back of my neck.
"I should probably get going." Amity said.
"Ya ok." I said, pulling Amity into a hug.
"Bye!" I said, waving enthusiastically.
Then suddenly a sharp pain in my shoulder. I winced and put my hand on my shoulder, bending over a bit from the pain.
"Your shoulder still hurts, huh? You really should have just let the fight be." Amity said.
"Willow would have killed you if she had the chance, I didn't wanna risk it." I said.
"Willow was injured worse than me, Luz. If you had left me alone in the first place the fight wouldn't have happened." Amity pointed out.
"But we wouldn't be friends if-" Luz said.
"Who said we were friends?" Amity interrupted.
I frowned.
"Oh-uh-no I didn't mean that in a mean way I'm just confused.....we're friends?" Amity asked, stuttering with her words.
"Of course!" I chirped.
"Oh....I didn't expect that." Amity muttered.
"Oh come on silly! Of course we're friends! I mean, I made you smile, right? That's makes us friends!" I said, smiling.
Amity smiled again.
"I guess." She said.
I smiled back at her.
"Hey can I come in." A voice sounded behind Amity, who was in the doorway.
Amity jumped back, looking up at Eda, nearly barreling right into me.
"Hey kid....other kid. Hey isn't this like the kid that was a jerk to you?" Eda asked.
Amity's smile faltered.
"I'm going to go home, bye Luz." She said.
"Bye." I said as she walked away.
I turned to Eda.
"Ya she was, but she came here to apologize. And now we're friends." I explained.
