014; Christmas
"Happy Christmas!" A voice shouted, waking Sahara up.
Sahara groaned, "Not very happy is it? Now let me go back to sleep."
"No! We are opening presents! Meet us in the Gryffindor common room in 30 minutes." Drew told her.
"How'd you even fucking get here?" Sahara asked.
"The twins." Was all Drew said before walking away.
"Wait! I don't know the password."
"Fairy Lights."
Sahara heard the door close and took that as her cue to get ready. She took a quick shower and brushed her teeth. After throwing on light blue sweatpants and a white hoodie she slipped on socks and some sneakers. She made sure that she had everyone's presents and made her way to the Gryffindor tower.
"I'm here!" Sahara exclaimed once she saw everyone sitting by the fire.
"Took you long enough." Fred told her. Sahara gave him a sarcastic smile and sat down next to Drew.
"Who first?" Penelope asked.
"Oh! I want you guys to open mine first." Sahara told them. She handed everyone their presents and sat back down crossing her legs. Fred and George were the first people to unwrap their gifts from Sahara.
"Thank you, Sahara!" The twins told her in unison when they saw their new quidditch items. Fred was staring at the socks Sahara got him trying to figure them out when George grabbed them out of his hands and laughed.
"You got him socks that scream when they stink?" He asked. When Sahara nodded her head everyone laughed and continued opening her presents. Everyone else thanked her for their gifts but Drew was by far the most grateful once she saw her Nimbus 2000.
Sahara received numerous gifts. From Molly and Arthur and knit sweater with an S on it, from Fred and George, candy - and lots of it - and the obvious pranking supplies, as well as a short letter from them that Sahara opened;
Dear Miss Smith,
It is our honor to tell you that Mom and Dad want you to spend the summer at The Burrow. We know its some time away, but they are already giddy to see you again. Mom just adores you and Dad has an obsession with Muggle things and has questions upon questions to ask you. He really wants to know what a 'telephone' is? He'd love if you'd answer. Anyway, enjoy your gifts. We know it isn't much but we hope you enjoy it. Excited for the Yule Ball? (Of course she is Fred! -George) I hope you have an amazing Christmas,
-Fred and George
Sahara smiled at the twins after reading the letter. "Thank you guys! I love it."
From Percy Sahara received some quills as well, Penelope gave her this beautiful charm bracelet that she was able to add on to, Aria gave her a matching necklace, Lee got her pranking supplies also and when she looked up she saw that Lee had just opened her gift. They looked at each other and laughed. Going back to her gifts she saw that Hermione had gotten her a book called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander. Ginny had given her a lion stuffed animal and Sahara assumed it was for multiple reasons, the Gryffindor lion - Ginny was rather upset that Sahara wasn't a Gryffindor when she found out she was Fred and George's friend. Not in a 'Oh our house is the best' kind of way, but this meant she couldn't spend as much time with her - and because of The Lion King. Harry and Ron had gotten her some candy and Drew had gotten her this bottle of perfume which smelled like peaches, a scent that Sahara adored.
After everyone thanked each other and gave many hugs they made their way down to the Great Hall. Gathering at the Hufflepuff table for once the group sat and ate breakfast while sharing their mutual excitement for the Yule Ball. This was until Sahara saw Cedric walk into the Great Hall with Cho Chang, hand-in-hand. Sahara shook her head and excused herself from the table running to the library. She didn't want to be in the Hufflepuff common room since Cedric was bound to come back.
"Sahara?" Hermione called.
"Yeah, I'm here. What's up?"
"We were all looking for you! We split up to try to find you after you ran off. Hey, are you crying?" She asked.
"What?" Sahara wiped the tears from under her eyes, "No, I'm not crying I'm fine."
"No you're not. I'm sorry."
"For what?" Sahara asked.
"I saw Cedric and Cho walk in.."
"Oh.. It's no big deal, I'll just go alone." There was no way she was going to miss the ball over some guy she had a crush on.
"I would go with you, as friends of course, but someone already asked me."
"So you weren't lying."
"What do you mean?" Hermione raised her eyebrow.
"Ron and Harry didn't believe you had a date."
"Well once they see me dancing with Krum they will."
"Krum?!" Sahara asked.
"Maybe." Hermione blushed.
"'Mione that's awesome!"
"Enough about me! Go get you ready for the ball, it's only a few hours away!"
"Okay, okay! I'll see you at the ball."
Sahara walked away suddenly feeling much better about herself.
Once in her dormitory Sahara started her makeup. She did a simple pink eyeshadow look, added some false eyelashes, blush, and some clear lip-gloss. She slipped on her dress, careful not to ruin her makeup, and looked into the mirror. She felt beautiful. Pulling back a few strands of her hair and clipping it together, she smiled. This was going to be great. Checking the time she realized the ball was starting in only ten minutes.
Sahara made her way over to where her, Penelope, Drew and Aria agreed to meet. After a few minutes Sahara reached the stairs in front of the Great Hall and looked to see them standing there with wide smiles on their faces. George was there as well standing next to Drew. Sahara smiled and grabbed Drew's hand, while George grabbed her other and Penelope's free hand since the other was holding onto Aria. They walked in together aweing at the sight.
"'Mione!" They exclaimed watching her walk down the stairs in a beautiful pink dress.
"Shall we?" Sahara asked giggling.
"Yes, and you look beautiful." Hermione told her.
"Not to bad yourself."
"Part of me aches at the thought of her being so close yet so untouchable." -Nicholas Sparks
