What has this world become

Luz's point of view

The woods were dark  and gloomy the boiling isles is usually like this at night but this was different Almost sinister. The only sound that filled the air was distant Groening from the dead that now roamed the Isles. I turned to look at Amity who had a clear look of dismay. 'Why did we have to come out here' I thought my mind drifting back to what Em told us.

(Flashback)

"Where" Amity and I say almost in unison.

Em blinks a couple times before saying "wow are you soulmates or what" she started, making Amity roll her eyes in annoyance with a slight blush. "Ok like I said I know a place but it is very risky" Em continued "why do you say that" I asked making everyone's gaze shift to me "well if this...virus or whatever spreads as fast as it did than this place will be full of the dead because it's always full people."

"What Exactly is this place" Amity asked with one eyebrow up. " The market" she said Amity and I looked at each other finally understanding what she meant. "So will  b you go or not because if you do I'll stay here with Ed and king" I looked at Amity and she hm nodded in agreement "we'll go."

(End of flashback)

Amity turned and looked at me catching me stare at her. Our eyes locked and made me forget to turn away wow gold is my new favorite color. " L-Luz why are you staring at me is there something on my face" she said beginning to touch around on her face.

"No...No no no no I was just um" I paused and noticed a strand of hair that came Loose. " I just noticed how pretty and green your hair is" I say pulling the loose strand back. Amity's face flushed red and she fell to the ground

"Amity are you okay!" I yell taken off guard.

"Hm yeah yeah never been better" Amity said with nervous laugher.

"Then way did you fall to the ground" I say still taken aback.

"What I didn't fall I was just...just checking the direction yeah let's go with that" Amity said with two laughs at the end. " Oh look the market" she said wow I was so lost in thought I didn't even notice how close we were. Amity's began to run towards the market wow she is fast makes sense she did play Grugby in the past. I started to jog after her but began to run seeing three of the dead standing were she was running I began fearing for her life.

"AMITY STOP!" I yelled.

She turned her head and began to slow down  but it was already too late. She ran right into three of the dead falling to the ground from the sudden impact.

They slowly turned their heads as Amity shuffled back in fear. They began to move closer to her and she tried to stand and run but they pined her to the ground. I began to speed up but was thrown of track by a lingering dead one and fell to the ground twisting my  leg not enough to break it but enough to make me feel pain and let out a cry.

I stood up but fell right back to the ground from the injury I faced. The dead one that caused this stood over me  and went onto it's somehow still functioning Knees and grabbed my arm. I struggled out of it's grasps an heard Amity scream. Shoot what if she got bit I could hardly think about myself it was all Amity. I struggle and managed to push it off and began to shuffle away until I felt it grab my leg. 'How its something that is dead so strong' I wondered.

Grabbing it by the decaying hair I began to pull it off of me slowly but not with out a fight. As I was pulling it I notice the scalp was beginning to rip off. I was shaking and whimpering wondering when this madness would end I began to wonder if this was the end. 'What about Amity was she okay and what about Ed how will we help him' my vision began to blur but not before seeing the last string the scalp was hanging from. This can't be the end right I can't die Ed, Em, and Amity need me. I  swiftly pull at the dead's scalp with one final tug and it snapped revealing the reddish  pinkish insides. It began to fall towards me but never sunk its yellow  teeth into me.

The living dead was no longer living and fell to the side of  me. The person who caused I stood over me with a hand out to grab. It was getting pretty dark so I didn't know who it was. I squinted my Eyes and finally figured out who It was. I would notice that brown hair and hook earring from anywhere. I rejected the hand and instead pulled them Into a hug. "Viney I'm so glad your okay" I said on the brink of tears. " It's not just me" Viney said nudging her head to the left where Amity was.  I turned my head to find Amity standing with Willow and Gus. I ran to them finally letting the tears fall.

"I'm so glad your here"

(Time skip)

We began to walk back to the camp and started to catch up. " Where are the rest of the trouble makers" I ask, Viney went quiet and wiped her eye before speaking " t-they didn't... They didn't make it" she said with her head down. The mood just got more dim than it was before making everyone quiet.

I desperately searched for something to in lighten the mood when it hit me. I pulled my hood up and said " hey look guys a cat" "a what" Gus asks

"Oh you don't know what cats are well they-" I manage to get out before being interrupted " Luz we know what cats are we were just messing with you" Willow giggled. "Oh" I say it was quiet for a short moment but all Four of us broke out into laughter. Even though it wasn't that funny it was fun to joke around despite our situation.

As we came up to the camp the smiles that we once had faded and in their  place was faces of fear. Emira came running up to us with her shirt coved In blood whether it was hers or not.

"Em what happened" Amity runs up to her sister. "It's Ed" she said with a blank expression " "Ed ...what, what happen to Ed" Amity ask almost hesitant to  know answer to that. Em sheds a tear before replying

"He's dead"
