Third Person POV

In the small village of Konoha, Y/N worked as a waitress at Ichiraku. A small ramen shop that the ninja of the Hidden Leaf village often came to, as well as the villagers, like herself. The owner was named Teuchi, and he ran the business with his daughter, Ayame.

~ Flashback ~

Y/N was desperately looking for a job. She wasn't exactly wealthy. In fact, she couldn't really say she had a decent amount of money in the first place.
Y/N  never really complained about it, though. She was in her third year of college, and things haven't been pleasant for her. Well, financially. She was studying to become a writer, because literature has always inspired her, so she wanted to do the same for others like her. At first, she considered becoming a ninja like her old classmates, but after failing the Chunin exams multiple times, she decided this type of thing wasn't for her. Though her college experience has been great, she's been struggling paying rent for her apartment. Sure, her job as a cashier at a small convenience shop worked for now, but she decided it was time to find a job that would pay her decent money. After college, she would be all on her own, which scared her, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle.

As she pondered about the small businesses that were hiring, she came across Ichiraku. Then, it suddenly occurred to her that many of the Leaf Ninjas came here all the time! Especially that one kid, Naruto and his team. She walked in the shop, seeing the owner, and his daughter. I sat at the counter, rehearsing how I was going to mention the job in my head.

"Hello! I'm Ayame. Would you like a menu?" His daughter looked about the same age as Y/N.

"No thank you. Actually, I came to talk about the open job, if it's still available?" She asked.

"Oh! Yes, it's still available. Let me get my dad, and we can talk." She disappeared into the kitchen in the back, coming back with her father.

"Hello, I'm Teuchi, and you are?" He extended his arm for a handshake. She took his hand, and introduced herself.

"I'm Y/N. I'm a student in college, majoring for writing, and literature. I'm 22 years old, and I'm currently work at a convenience store down the street." She explained, as she pointed towards the direction of the store. He nodded, as he proceeded with more questions.

"Is there any specific reason you're applying for this job?" She didn't want to give the actual reasoning, but she knew she had to.

"The thing is, I don't think the profit I'm earning now works for me anymore. I feel like I need higher amounts of money if I can continue paying my bills, and for my apartment." She felt embarrassed at her truth. He looked at his daughter, as she gave a silent nod.

"Okay. Let's give this a shot! I mean, we have been looking for a person to work here for quite sometime." He exclaimed. What? They're hiring me just like that?! Y/N thought to herself. A large smile spread across her face.

"Thank you so much! You have no idea how much this means to me!" She said in excitement.

"No problem, Y/N! I have my daughter, who's also in college, so I know how hard it must be to keep up with your studies, while trying to pay off bills, and rent. You can start next week." He handed her an apron that matched Ayame's. She thanked him once again, and left the shop. As she walked out, she saw Kakashi Hatake, and his team, consisting of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Kakashi had silver hair, a black mask that covered the lower half of his face, and his headband that covered one eye. She never knew why he kept it like that, and she had no intention of knowing anytime soon. He was one of her former classmates, until she decided not to become a ninja, while Kakashi did.
Y/N and Kakashi never knew eachother very well. Kakashi noticed Y/N awkwardly walking out of the restaurant, trying to avoid eye contact.

"Ah, Y/N right? I haven't seen you in awhile. How've you been?" She looked up at him, as he smiled at her, through the mask he's worn ever since she's known him.

"I-I've been good." She replied, nervously. Y/N didn't know why she was getting so flustered. She figured it was because she was so socially awkward.

"Good to hear. I heard you quit being a ninja? So, what are you majoring in now?" Her expression turned from nervous, to offended.

"Look, I never quit. I tried doing all that ninja stuff, but I didn't like it alright?" She said in an annoyed tone, while crossing her arms, looking up at his flustered face. He smiled nervously, and rubbed his neck.

"Sorry about that. Anyways-" he was then cut off by Naruto's sudden yelling.

"Come on Kakashi! You said you would treat us to ramen, so hurry up already!" Kakashi looked back at his blonde student, and back at Y/N.

"Well, I'll see you around." He walked away, and into Ichiraku. She took a deep breath, as she prepared herself for quitting her current job.

Y/N's POV
As I cleaned the counters at Ichiraku, Kakashi and his team walked in. What the hell? This is like their 3rd time this week. Eh, whatever, at least it'll bring in more money. I thought to myself as the klutzy blond sat himself down, along with Sasuke and Sakura. I learned their names pretty fast, considering theyre always here. Sakura was a bit uptight, Sasuke was a little jerk, and Naruto was some ditsy ninja that wants to be Hokage. I think he may have potential!

Ever since I started working here, I've seen Kakashi quite often. He's always been one of the strongest ninja here. He's also known as the Copy Ninja, meaning he can copy any jutsu of his opponents. Kakashi also possesses the sharingan in one eye! He's actually very cool.

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Sakura and Naruto shouting over eachother. "Helloooo? Waitress lady? Are you just going to stand there, we're ready to order!" I rolled my eyes, as I handed each one of them a menu. Except Naruto, of course. He gets the same thing every single damn time.

"Let me know when you're ready to order." I told them. Then, Kakashi suddenly stopped me.

"Hey, Y/N. Can I ask you something?" For some reason, my heart dropped when he asked that. Why the fuck is he making me so nervous. Ugh, whatever!

"Yes?" I asked leaning over the counter, putting the towel I was using to wipe it down, over my shoulder.

"Look, ever since you decided to not be a ninja, I was wondering if you wanted some extra training? I mean, ya know. For self defense purposes?" I raised my eyebrow.

"And what makes you think I need you to help me with self defense? I learned the basics at the academy, so I'm fine. Thanks anyway." I went to the back of the kitchen, meeting Ayame.

"Was that Kakashi??" She exclaimed. Yeah so, Ayame has a not-so-secret crush on Kakashi. She's never made a move though, because she claims shes too shy.

I nodded, as I shouted, "Naruto wants the usual!" out to Teuchi.

"Be honest. Do you think he likes me?" She asked. I had to tell her the truth.

"Ayame. You never speak to him. Every single time he enters, you hide out back here, so how should I know?" She rolled her eyes.

"I dunno. There's always a certain vibe you get when you know someone likes another person. Of course, you wouldn't know." I raised my eyebrow, confused.

"No offense though! I just meant that you never really talk about having a relationship." I could tell she was getting nervous, so I softly chuckled.

"I've been so distracted with college, I've never really noticed many guys I would be interested in. I mean, if I got to know them, maybe I would, but I don't have the time, ya know?" I explained. She nodded, and we spoke a bit longer. Then, Kakashi and the rest of his team said they were ready to order, so I approached them, getting all of their orders. I couldn't help but chuckle at the fact Ayame was still hiding from Kakashi, in fear she would embarrass herself.

Ive never understood her. I guess we're too different. I mean, how hard could it be to talk to the guy you like? Ugh, what am I saying? Ayame was right, how should I know? I've never really had much of an intense crush on anybody. Maybe I'm just not the type of person to have a serious relationship with anyone.
