I stood in horror when I saw my father on the ground with my grandfather standing over him, “WHERE IS THE GIRL?” He screamed. Just then Rose flew down with a sword in her hands. My grandfather saw Rose coming at him and quickly jumped aside as, to my surprise, a sword shimmered into his hand as well. He grew his wings and took off. I raced to my father, he wasn’t hurt. I breathed a sigh of relief and then I realized my dad was unconscious with a rather large lump on his head. Wanting to help but not knowing how I began to drag my dad back to Bishops Castle. Rose and my grandfather were moving too fast for me to see clearly.
When I managed to drag my father into shelter I quickly hurried to the top of the castle. When I had come here before I was slow, afraid of the height and that it was only half made. But I was determined to help Rose. I raced to the top and when I got there I was dumbfounded. How was I going to help? Then I thought about how the sword had shimmered into my grandfather’s hands. Then randomly I said: “Rifle.” Then to my amazement the gun appeared in my hand. As it fell into my grasp I staggered a bit and almost fell over.
I positioned the gun the way my father had shown me I found the gun was already loaded and turned the safety off. I the spotted my grandfather hovering in midair Rose not far off. I aimed for the leg. I was nervous and excited I’ve never shot anyone before and I didn’t want to kill him. Making myself known I fired. My aim was accurate and I hit my grandfather in the leg. He howled in pain and almost fell to the ground. He turned and spotted me. The gun shimmered out of my hands and I felt myself shatter under his cold gaze. “Brat! You will die by my hands no one else’s!” With that he flew away quick enough to not be bother with a chase. Rose flew to me breathing hard.
She looked like she was going to yell, I closed my eyes and braced for a scolding, but when she spoke she voice was rather shocked. “How did you do that?”
“Do what?” I said after realizing I wasn’t in trouble.
“Don’t play dumb Suzette! How did you common the gun?”
I was surprised, Rose was the one who could have a sword automatically if she wanted, she was the one who knocked me out in the car so why doesn’t she tell me? Just the thought of this sent me fuming, and it suddenly turned into utter rage. “First, call me SUE! Second, WHY DON’T YOU TELL ME? YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S BEEN DOING THIS FOR FOREVER APARENTLY SO I SUMMONED A GUN WHAT GIVES?” In a flash Rose had blade of her sword to my neck.
“Sue you need to calm down, there’s dark energy in you, and it’s starting to consume you.” Happy she called me Sue instead of Suzette I forced myself to calm down for her sake. When I was calmer the sword in Roses hand shimmered and disappeared. Rose fell on the floorboard panting, it was then I realized Rose was bleeding. Rose had a few cuts and many bruises, the cuts weren’t deep but they still looked bad.
Rose then put her hand up to a cut on her arm, “Len.” Was all she said and her hand began to glow. I watched, fascinated, as the cut began to heal.
“Can I try?” Rose smiled and nodded. I went to her back side and raised my hands to another cut. “Len.” My hand also began to glow and the cut automatically healed.
“How did you do that?” Rose said astonished. I looked up to see that Rose was still healing her arm.
“I did the same thing you did, did I do something wrong?” I asked backing away.
“No, you didn’t anything wrong it’s just I’ve never seen anyone heal a wound so fast.” I continued working till all of Rose’s cuts and bruises had disappeared. Rose stood and looked over the edge of the tower, the edge that I always stayed away from due to my fear of hurtling to the ground. “We’re fairly far up, maybe we should glide down?” What? This sounds like a horrible idea! What are you thinking? I thought. Seeing the horror on my face Rose said, “Maybe another time, when you’re more used to you wings, perhaps?” I furiously nodded. Rose shrank her wing to hand size. “Well then, I’ll go down with you, lead the way Sue.”
I stood and crawled down the stairs. When we reached what I assumed was the throne room Rose told me to stop. I turned to see what she wanted. “Sue, show me how you summoned the gun.” I did as I was told, I stood and concentrated, I pictured an image of the rifle in my head.
“Rifle.” With that the gun shimmered into my hands.
“Incredible,” Rose said and observed the weapon.
“What’s incredible? It’s just a gun.” I said and the gun disappeared.
“What’s so incredible about it is that Angles are only able to summon swords and daggers, basically any weapon from the middle ages. For some reason we’ve never been able to summon weapons from the present time.” We continued our trek back to Robert.
“Ok, I have two questions, first, is dad ok? Second, if angles can only summon weapons from the past then how can I summon guns?”
“Robert is fine, and I would like to know that as well, I’d also like to know why you have dark magic in you.” We finished the climb down in silence. When we reached the bottom Robert was waiting for me.
“Sue!” He exclaimed in pure joy. He hugged me and said, “I think it’s time to go home now. Your dog will be missing you.”
“How long have we been gone?” I asked when he let go of me.
Nervously he said; “A whole week.”
