The Hurt

"Logan!" I shout as I awake from my nightmare.

Was it all a dream? Is Logan fine and sitting in his room at his beautiful house?

My hope quickly fades when I open my eyes and see the hospital room I'm in. A nurse runs in after hearing my scream and I sit up and begin to rip off all the chords. Suddenly I feel horrible pain in my side and look to see a wrap around my rib area.

"You can't do that," says the nurse trying  to put all the stuff back on, but I stop her.

"You need to rest," she says.

"I have to get to Logan!" I say as I get up and run past her.

The pain catches up to me but  I keep going, Logan is more important than pain. The nurse begins to scream for someone to get me back to my room so I run harder. I'm stopped by a really muscular man who picks me up and despite my struggles, carries me all the way back to my room. The chords get placed back and soon  I'm breathing deeply with my head against the pillow. A nurse comes in, this time a different one I recognize him as the nurse who had pointed out I was bleeding and kept me from Logan.

"I'm sorry about that night. I was just doing my job and I didn't mean to hurt you," he says.

I don't have time for this. I need to get to Logan.

"Where's Logan?" I ask ignoring his apology.

 "They didn't tell you?"

 "Tell me what?"

"Logan didn't make it through surgery. He's dead."

"NO!" I scream as tears spill out I try to get up but the nurse stops me and I give up after all there was nowhere to run to.

"GET OUT!"

He gets up and leaves the room quickly and I cry the hardest I have ever cried since my mom died. I look to the floor beside my bed and see a plastic bag with my stuff in it. I grab it and take out Logan's necklace and squeeze it in my hands.

That's it I give up. I will never be happy again.

I make a vow to never give my heart away ever again.

Life is pointless.

I stand up and pull the curtain over then I change out of my hospital gown and into my clothes. Ignoring the big blood stain on my shirt. When I'm done, I push back the curtain and lie back down. The nurse comes in and explains to me that I was out for so long that school starts in four days. Also that my rib broke and a piece of it stabbed some of my insides causing the blood, so they had to remove the peices of the rib and put a fake rib there. She said that I'll never breathe normally again. Of course she sugar coated it, but I knew.

"Next time don't go roof jumping," she says.

"What? I didn't-" I start to say but then my dad enters the room, he's actually wearing nice clothes.

"Hey sweetie," he says with a smile that says, agree to the roof story or else.

I "smile" back and say, "Hey dad."

"I hope you learned your lesson to not do foolish things."

"I did," I say getting his hint.

 "Let's go."

"Sir I think she should stay here for a couple of days," says the doctor, "To rest."

"Nonsense she can rest at home just as well here."
