It's been a few days and still the pack hasn't figured how they got the boy, Liam. They weren't eager of letting him go, though. Firstly, they couldn't risk letting an outsider get back to his place after he knew about their pack. And secondly, they enjoyed having someone new in their long lives. Liam was still fearful, mostly keeping himself close to the white wolf, strangely enough trusting the huge animal more than the human formed ones. He had all of them worried, as he was getting skinnier and paler daily, not letting himself sleep at nights.

It was only a week later when he risked to get out during the night. Louis, the white wolf, sleeping in the same room, didn't notice him getting up, and he knew it was his chance to get away. Once outside, he had no idea where to go and how to fight against the unbearable cold winter air. He was in a forest with no signs of roads or villages.

After minutes of walking he started regretting his escape. If back there getting killed was only his fear, walking alone in the endless forest was an actual danger. He was about to turn around and get back, when he heard a howl not too far.

On a rock between the trees he saw a majestic dark wolf, even bigger than Louis. He still hasn't seen the others in their animal forms but the sharp black hair, darker than ink, hinted him that it was the Alpha.

Zayn, of course, noticed the boy looking at him. He finished howling and turned to him, transforming into his human form. He looked at Liam expectantly until he got the message and walked to the rocks.

"Why are you doing this, Liam?" Zayn asked and sat down.

Liam sat down beside him and just looked at Zayn, not sure how to answer. Zayn sighed and talked to him calmly.

"Look, I know you're afraid of us but think about it. Why would we hurt you at all? We're not blood-thirsty beasts, you know?"

Liam nodded and frowned at the word "beasts." He never thought of them as beasts, anyway.

"It's just everything I ever read about wolverines, vampires, and other creatures was scary and till yesterday I wasn't even sure if I believed in it, cause it was mostly fiction that I've read. But now it's all different form what I imagined and I don't know what to think."

Zayn smiled at him kindly, nothing like what an Alpha werewolf would be described in any books that Liam read.

"All the things that you've read are barely close to the truth. Some of it are merely author fantasies, others are based on real things. And if you don't know anything about it just ask. Who is gonna give better answers than a pack of actual werewolves?"

The boy chuckled at the last sentence. He knew he could just ask but wasn't sure how to start. Still, he wanted to take the chance and get to know them better.

"Why do you turn into wolves and not half-wolf, half-human?" he started, remembering his confusion when he saw the difference between Louis, and now Zayn, and the pictures of werewolves he saw.

In the books and films they were a creepy mixture of two creatures with long claws and a weird posture. But the white and the raven wolves he now knew were hauntingly beautiful animals, only bigger than actual wolves.

"The whole idea of werewolves that people got was based on wrong illusions and sometimes it's mixed with wolverines, which are fictional. I don't know why they even imagined us as some weird combination but most probably they saw a wolverine during its transformation or sickness or some defect or simply just were delusional at the moment, so they gave an inaccurate description from the beginning and spread the idea. The only differences we have from humans when we're in our human form are our enhanced height and strength. And the transformation stuff, it's more like Animagus like Sirius Black."
