~Narrator~

As Amari, Diamonte and Kendra sat along to L-shaped leather, black couch in their apartment of which they shared the three girls engaged in a casual conversation. The college students had just started their junior year of college back in August, and so far the year had been going well for them. Casually scrolling through her phone Diamonte spoke up, speaking out on something she constantly came across.

"Did y'all hear about that Halloween thingy going on downtown this Saturday?" Diamonte asked the girls, showing them what she was seeing on her screen. "They're choosing ten people who enter to be in a Halloween escape room, and almost everyone on campus has applied."

"Iris was tellin' me about that," Amari spoke, flipping her soft and silky twenty-four inch lace over her shoulder, while leaning forward to look at what was on Diamonte's phone. "Application closes Monday." she read from Diamonte's phone, which was a virtual flyer on the company website.

Every year in downtown Detroit, Michigan, a Halloween escape room is always taking place for anyone over eighteen to sign up for and attend. This year, it was known that only ten people would be chosen for this event, the reason being that not everyone will be able to participate in whatever it is that's going to happen. It was the talk on campus, even in high schools and middle schools of students that wanted to attend and found the event being hosted interesting.

"Shit, y'all tryna go?" Diamonte perked her brows at Kendra and Amari, causing the two girls to exchange looks. Amari had only been to one haunted trail and corn maze, and that was during her freshman year of college. Once she was traumatized until Christmas, any trail or haunted house had always been a no from her. But now that she was basically an adult, she was just a little more willing to give it a try.

And although that was the case, she knew nothing ever ended well on Halloween night. Especially in Detroit. The Halloween events that took place was always put in motion to "let everyone have fun" on the night, but it was the complete opposite. The "incidents" that happened in Detroit weren't even just in Detroit—it happened all over the country.

None of the people who attended the Halloween happenings never thought it would he harmful—everybody was doing everything on Halloween. And the only reason no one ever paid attention to the teenagers and young adults that always went missing, likely never to return was because the government always found some way to cover up their deaths or missings. It flew almost everyone's head, except for the relatives of those people, but of course there was still no justice for them.

But then again, Halloween is where everything gets crazy. So of course situations like these will fly over people's heads.

"Thas' a joke, right?" Amari averted her eyes from Kendra and to Diamonte who scoffed at her friend's answer. "C'mon, Mari, it'll be fun. Imagine if all of our applications got accepted. We'd have so much fun!"

"Dia, I have things to do for my..." Amari trailed off, looking for an excuse to flake. But clearly, Diamonte wasn't having it.

"Do things for your fun on Halloween day." she finished Amari's sentence, standing from the couch. Hitting Amari on the leg, while Amari looked at her with a perplexed look, Diamonte put her phone away in the pocket of her neutral-colored sweats, and placed both hands on her hips. "It's only three right now. The place closes at seven. We're applying today before they close Monday." Diamonte said, looking between the girls.
