imagine; you're not anywhere in particular. it's a time of year. you have two pins in your mouth and a red string in your hand. you fumble and drop your needle. again. at least two of your fingertips are bleeding. it's not the first time you've had to do this and it won't be the last. someone is knocking on the door but your hands are full, and time is running out. open up!, they say. you do one stitch, then two, then adjust. it's not working how it should. just a few short weeks ago it fit. didn't it? the knocking is louder and more frantic. open up! it was just one word and now it doesn't fit and the word was goodbye. you don't understand why the pins are falling out. it was only one word! goodbye. goodbye. someone is pounding on the door but you still don't get up. you've never not fixed it before. but your eyes don't deceive you. the edges of your heart just don't line up any more. open up!, they say. you say, goodbye.
