I walk into the cafe with a big grin on my face the next day.
"Well, someone's happy, what's gotten you in such a good mood?" Noodle asks me smiling as I place my jacket on the clothes rack " I have no fucking idea" I laugh as I shrug back in response. She gives me a wierd look and I feel my grin widen "What? Can't I smile without being questioned? And no, I haven't killed anyone" I see her laugh "Alright sunshine" she teases "Oi!" I punch her playfully on the shoulder as I pass her and I hear her giggle as I put the kettle on and make myself a cup of coffee."Sup Mudz" Russel says as he walks into the kitchen before glancing at the clock and I see his eyes widen "Wow! You actually showed up early!" I nod as I inhale the deep rich coffee scent and sit down at the table and try to sip it so I don't burn my tongue "Something special happening?" I shake my head "Nope, Just being a good employee" He smiles and shakes his head as if amused at the thought before putting some bread in the toaster and grabbing himself a cup of coffee as well.
"Noodle? Can I please do the cash register this time?" I say rolling my eyes at the "magic word". She seems to think it over and I feel my patience start to thin out. "Noodle, I've asked you like 50 times!" I whine and she gives me a look "Twice, you've asked me twice" I groan and she rolls her eyes before sighing as she stands up "Fine" She gives in and I punch my hand in the air in victory "Yes!"
I see her raise an eyebrow and I know she wants an explanation but I just pretend not to notice as I sit on the spinny chair and spin myself around. I sit there kicking the shelves to make me spin as fast as I can so the room starts moving under my feet and I wobble when I try to walk. "You really just wanted the chair? You could have just asked" She says rolling her eyes again as she walks out back into the kitchen and I watch her leave.
I put my feet up on the bench as I lean back and wait for the strange man that walked in yesterday.
Stuart.
I like that name.
I close my eyes until I hear the door ring, notifying that someone's walked in and I sit up hoping it's Stu but to my disappointment It's just some random person and I take there order.
After a few more people visit I start to doubt that he'll come back today. I shut my eyes again and start to consider going into the back room and have Noodle take over instead until I hear the bell ring again and I sigh. "Hello, how may I help you?" I ask them "Just a peppermint tea for me thanks" I look up and see the same man in front of me from yesterday "That all?" I ask "Yep"
"Same as yesterday then" he takes out his wallet and I see him pause "I-I don't remeber" he mumbles and I grin "It's £1.80 sir" He nods awkwardly before paying and shuffling over to where he sat before.I write the order down on another sticky-note and hand it to Noodle to give to Russel and wait till it's done before going over and handing it to him.
I place it down on the table and my gaze immediately drifts down to his shoes which are now untied again. "You want me to tie those up again? I ask and I realise he's got a pink bandaid on his cheek and can't help but think it's absolutely adorable. "U-uh y-yeah" he stutters as he looks away ambarased and I laugh as I bend down to tie his shoes.
He looks down at me and I see his whole face turn a dark shade of cherry red and I try to keep my attention on the shoes so I don't laugh and he gets even more flustered.
"Done, umm, hey, I know this might sound wierd but I'm not really doing anything at the moment, wanna talk?" I ask him, somehow feeling nervous and awkward under his gaze and he fidgets with his fingers before nodding and I sit down in front of him "I thought you were doing the cash register desk...thingy?" He asks me and I lean back so I can see the bench and I grin as I see Noodle apologising to some customers before she spots me and gives me a hard glare. I simply smile and wave back. "Hmmm, not anymore" I laugh and he gets even more confused.
