A week later...

Sophie's POV

"Someone's at the door Soph! I'm busy with Henry can you get it?"

"Sure mom!"

I stood up from the couch, checking through the window to see who it was. I knew to never answer the door to a stranger so I ran to get my mom.

"It's a man. Don't know him."

"Ok. Finish brushing your teeth Henry, can't be late for school."

She followed me to the door and opened it, leaving the chain lock.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is this the home of Jennifer and Sophie Jareau?"

"Yes? Who is- Mikey?!"

I was confused. Who's Mikey?

"Jennifer?"

"What do you want?"

"I was checking my DNA app and saw there was a hit for my daughter. I made a mistake not wanting to be in her life back then. I want to be her dad."

She still kept her distance from the door, me now hiding behind the hallway wall.

"She already has a dad. You made it very clear 17 years ago that you didn't want her, so now you don't have a choice."

"You can't be serious! She's my daughter!"

"You cut those ties already. No going back. I have papers to prove it."

"Maybe she wants to get to know her dad. Why else would she have taken it?"

"To see if she had siblings! She doesn't want to know anything about you!"

"Well, she doesn't have siblings. But she does have a dad that wants to get to know her."

"She doesn't want it. Respect her decision and leave."

"I'll see you in court Jennifer."

"Like that's gonna do anything."

She slammed the door.

I was terrified. I did not want to get to know him. I was perfectly fine only knowing he existed somewhere in the world.

"He's not going to go through with it peanut. If he does, you have a say in it. Will adopted you and I have him saying he doesn't want to ever be apart of your life in writing."

"I hope you're right mom."

Three days later...

"Here's the mail mom."

"Thanks, can you just sort it?"

"Yeah sure."

That's when I saw it. The court letter. I've seen these way too many times before. Maybe it's just a follow up for my kidnapping case.

"Mom can you come here?"

"What's wrong?"

I held up the court letter.

"What a bitch! Open it."

"Saturday. Custody battle."

"Is he crazy?! They would never let him have 100% custody. He's an idiot. I already dug up the papers. Don't worry."

"It's getting too real."

I started to feel dizzy.

"Mom I think I need to lay-"

Everything went black.

"Sophie! Sophie!"

I opened my eyes. Ow my head.

"How long was I out?"

"Like two minutes. Head ok?"

I squinted as I tried to stand up. She was 6 months pregnant, she couldn't carry me anymore.

Later that night I called and ranted to Jack. I didn't want to leave. I was starting to panic. What have I done? I knew I shouldn't have taken it! I should've waited until I was 18 and maybe more mature. By then I would have rights to say I didn't want to live with him.

Saturday...

"Do you have all the papers mom?"

"Yes baby, stop worrying. Let's go inside. They're going to start."

"Is it true that your daughter was kidnapped at the age of seven under your supervision?"

"Yes. But-"

"Please explain."

"My client does not have to explain a traumatizing part in her life that she should not have to explain. It was not her fault she was an excellent mother. She has raised this girl for the past 9 months to be a strong young women."

"Ms.Jareau, do you have the papers from the original custody agreement?"

"I do. He wrote in writing that he never wanted anything to do with her. He is not her father. Only her sperm donor. She had now been adopted my William Lamontagne Jr. my husband. He is her father."

"Objection. Was this adoption approved by Sophie or was it forced?"

I spoke up.

"It was approved. I love Will so much. he is the best father to Henry and I. He picks me up from soccer. Takes me to see my boyfriend. Picks me up from therapy. Watches all my games. Listens to my silly girl problems."

"Thank you Sophie. I think it's time I go over this and the jury and I will have a decision after lunch."

I walked back over to my mom, Henry, dad and the team. They all spoke up. Even Jack did. They were my biggest supporters.

"You did great Soph."

"Thanks Uncle Spence."

"I'm just scared."

"He has nothing to put against your mom. He have tons to put against him." Uncle Derek said.

We ate lunch, actually, I didn't eat. Around an hour had passed and we were called back in.

"We have made a decision. Full 100 percent custody of Sophie Jareau goes to..."

"NO!"

I looked around. It was only a nightmare Sophie. Calm down. You haven't take the DNA sample yet.

I jumped out of bed. Hearing people downstairs.

I ran down trying to find my mom. I saw Aunt Em and Aunt Penny in the kitchen.

"Wow, you took a long nap Soph. It's almost dinner."

"Mom. Don't ask questions. Where is the DNA kit? I need to burn it."
