His 'Cunning' Rival

Kao was feeling distraught. He had a pretty crappy week. And he thought it was all his own fault if he was being honest.

FLASHBACK
They finally told Thada's gang that he was actually pregnant. They were shocked and happy. The guys just assumed that Thada was the father and started making fun of him.

"Huh, I didn't even know he had it in him to make a fly pregnant" Hippy laughed.

"Eh, Kao must've been the one to rape him" Pong joked. "You, tell me right now how you seduce him" Kao didn't know what got into him, he just got tonguetied. And upset. And mad. So mad. Not at Thada, at himself.

Why?

Why was it not true? Why was he even doing this? did it make sense? Having a man's child and burdening another one with the responsibility? What was he doing? Why?

And he noticed how Thada became quiet when Pong said it. Those boys weren't stupid, they saw their faces and concluded it all.

"So... he's having that jerk's baby and you are going to raise it?" Dash had asked and Kao bowed his head low. He felt they all gave him judging looks and thought he was being an unwanted burden. He regretted forcing Thada to tell them. He felt like the fantasy bubble he was living in just shattered ☹

And he thought Thada felt like that too because later on when they both were in the kitchen corner, Thada doing dishes while Kao sitting on the island, wiping them, he saw how Thada's frown was deeper than usual, he looked after Kao, attentive to his every move yet not paying him any attention, not even really looking at him, and stood there tight-lipped.

"Tha~"

"Hmm"

"Tha~"

"What?"

Kao puffed his cheeks sadly, eyes tearing up.

Thada turned to him, shook his head and pulled him in his arms before Kao starts sobbing. "Shh... don't. Don't cry... It's okay... It's okay..." he said with a sigh. "What happened?" Kao looked up at him miserably.

"You are mad at me right? You're mad! You hate me!!!!"

Thada blinked. "I'm not mad... baby, not at all"

Kao looked up at him again and started sobbing. "You're lying! You are mad! You won't talk to me! You won't look at me! You realized I'm being a bother to you don't you? You don't want me anymore. Why are you being nice to me?"

Thada gave him an alarmed look. "Hey... I-"

"You don't love me anymore! You don't want my kids do you? You didn't like it when they were making fun of you... they said you made me pregnant and you were mad!!!"

Thada gaped at him.

"You feel bad they're not your kids, don't you?" Kao asked between sobs.

Thada stared intensely at him with an expression on his face that he'd never given Kao before. A mix of hurt and anger

Then he sighed and carefully picked Kao up to put him safely down. "Do you realize that I'm not the one saying it? You are..."

Kao blinked.

"You're the one who shut his mouth, knowing very well it didn't matter to me before how they happened, it sure as hell won't now. Not to me because they are my kids and..." he chuckled. "Now I don't want to talk to you..." With that he turned off the faucet and walked out. He really needed a smoke.
