Chapter Seven

After hours of being in the station the police finally believed Lacey's and Fred's story well most of it. Every time the forest was spoken of, they moved on to the next question. Outside the police station Fred asked if Lacey would like to go to the library tomorrow to look for more information on the forest. Lacey replied yes as Fred's mum came and drove him home.

Lacey went back inside as her mum was finishing her paperwork. The room was so silent the only thing that was making a sound was her mum's fingers typing away on her laptop. "there finally down" The sheriff gave a sigh of relief.

It was the next day and the town was still reeling from yesterday's events. As it was playing over the radio which Lacey's mum turned off as soon as she came in the kitchen for breakfast. "I'm not sure

"because of who I'm going with or for my safety" Lacey replied waving her sausage that was on her fork.

"a-bit of both" Lacey's mum looked at her daughter. "Fred might not have done the shooting, but he is still unstable" The sheriff added as she sipped her coffee. Lacey finished her meal quickly and left. Lacey marched up the street to the crossroads where she was meeting Fred.

Fred was waiting there twiddling his thumbs as per usual. His face lit up in a smile when he saw Lacey but immediately died down when he saw she was upset. "are you alright?" Fred asks Lacey as soon as she gets over to his side of the road.

"Yes, I am just arguing with my mum over nothing," she said calmly. Lacey did not want Fred to know the truth as it may make him awkward. So, she spends the rest of the walk getting to know him. Lacey asked what movies he liked, what bands and his hobbies. Besides his hobbies she liked some of the bands he liked and films he watches.

Meanwhile across town. Kate was allowed to return home if she stayed in her bed. If she had known about the coming events, she would have stayed in the hospital. Kate sat up in her bed, her back supported by two pillows while she watched her favourite show.

It was getting dark and Lacey still was not online. This normality meant that she was playing football or in the library. Kate was starting to get frustrated she wasn't used to not having Lacey around. "Kate I'm off to work now but your father should be home soon.

An hour had passed. Kate was starting to worry. It wasn't like her father to be this late. It was about seven pm and it was already dark outside the sounds of dogs barking in the distance. A few minutes later a car pulled up. Kate thought she heard people sniggering as footsteps approached the door.

Suddenly, the power went off. Kate panicked and tried desperately to find her phone. In her desperation she fell off the side of her bed. She let out a groan of pain. The next sound she heard was someone coming up the stairs. The person walking up the stairs must have been heavy or tall as each step made a booming noise.

Bang. The door of Kate's room flung open as this large man about seven foot. Struggled to get his tall frame inside. Kate's heart rate started to increase as she tried to figure a way out. The tall figure shone his torch onto Kate.

Kate attempted to crawl through the figure's legs. The seven-foot man just reached down and scooped her up like a sack of potatoes, Kate started screaming and hit the man's back repeatedly to no avail. Kate did this all the way to the kitchen. As quickly as the intruders came, they just as quickly left.

Lacey and Fred entered the library. It wasn't a very big library, but it had the information they were looking for which was old town newspapers, since it was such a small-town information it was hard to come by on the internet.

"here" Fred whispered to Lacey as she looked at the old newspaper

Experimental housing estate suffers mudslide

two days after one resident Mrs Slack, 23, spoke out against the experiments going on in Wrathmoor laboratories there was a very destructive mudslide that sank the entirety of estate 343.

Mrs Slack lost all three of her children however her husband Mr slack made it out but was horribly disfigured. We have spoken to the owners Animax global, but they have yet to comment.

Crazed couple kill seven nurses and two police officers

Mrs slack and her husband tried to get away with someone's child yesterday at 6pm. All seven of the nurses that tried to stop them suffer a horrible death. It wasn't until three officers interfered that they were stopped.

The female Mrs slack was wounded. The child was left behind as Mr Slack carried her away. Just before they were out of sight, she fired a few more shots, killing two of the three officers. Using the killing of the police to make their escape.

"That's so tragic I wonder what went on in those labs" Lacey pondered to Fred.

Before Fred could reply, Lacey got a call from her mum. Lacey said she needed to take this and walked outside. When she came back in, she looked as white as a ghost grabbed Fred by the arm and brought him outside.

They got Kate. She said as they ran to the police station. Lacey rushed into her mother's office. "I know who took Kate," Lacey announced not knowing that Kate's parents were already in the room.

"who. Who took are precious daughter" Kate's father demanded shaking Lacey

"Mr smith take your hands off my daughter" the sheriff demanded. Mr smith apologised and asked again but more calmly.

"it was the family from the woods" Lacey answered

The sheriff scoffed but Mr smith took it to heart. He turned to the sheriff and begged her to send a search party. After thinking over it for an hour the sheriff gave in and said she will do it. She ordered all available units to search the woods. It was the first time in twenty-four years a search party went in. they cannot stay long as the gas around the area is dangerous to humans.
