Forest of the Night #2

Joana trotted through the plains, cautiously guiding her herd to a watering hole. Joana reminisced on the times when the forest wasn't in total turmoil. Of course there was a sort of balance that the forest inhabitants called the ring of rebirth, but that balance was lost when princess Karma had changed for the worst. To top it all off some human children were now caught in the center of it! Joana quickly snapped out of her thoughts and trotted towards the watering hole, dipping a foot in to make sure it was safe, as you could never be to sure if there were hydro succubi in the water. After a thorough inspection of the water, Joana signed her herd to collect some water. Members of her herd dipped carved wooden bowls into the water to collect water.as the herd was collecting water, Joana was keeping a lookout. From the corner of her eye, she saw pale-blue light brown scales of a pond dragon. As it slipped into the water, it closed its eyes, allowing its camouflage to make the stealth hunter virtually invisible if one were to look into the watering hole after it entered. Joana reared her legs shouting " POND DRAGON!" As her heard fled, she pulled out her spear and threw it at the now attacking pond dragon. An hour later, Joana's son trotted over, only to see his mother's dead body lying next to a dead pond dragon, chunks of flesh were ripped from Joana's carcass. The young centaur layed beside his now dead mother and wept.

Coral slowly trudged through the swamps, starved and cold. She was desperate for food and couldn't find a single fox to eat. As she reached a deeper part of the swamps the atsuka desperately searched for food in, coral began to try and swim through the thick muddy water. The atsuka was vulnerable like this as coral had never before in her life. Suddenly, a roar of an anakade pierced corals ears. As coral attempted to dive underwater to escape the predator, it's swooped down, and like that, coral was no more.

(this mini story takes place during the events of chapter 1 in the forest of the mystics, One of the primary main characters is killed by a Hytta towards the end of this specific chapter, and as a quick note the character that died was 14)

Reya calmly jumped from one island to another in the Woodland regional Forest she called home. she had seen some humans and a maifwa pass by before hearing screams and shouting, along with a Hytta roar. The young cloud fox decided to investigate, finding only one of the humans bodies. Their were deep claw marks in The young humans chest and her throat appeared to have been ripped out, The crimson blood mixing with the girls long red hair and staining both the dark green grass and the girls pink dress. Reya knew from the site of the body alone that the Hytta she had heard earlier was the culprit of the humans death. The young cloud fox sighed, Hyttas aren't called the thieves of life for nothing. As reya bounced away from the body mainly for her own safety, she heard a hiss. She turned around to see a two headed Hytta hissing at a corpse stalker fighting for the dead girls body. Eventually, the Hytta backed down, which surprised Reya, she then recognize this specific Hytta as the one they called Rita, a Hytta with intelligence that was on par with humans, and was just as dangerous.  The fox head of Rita snarled at the wolf head " why do you have to be so foolish Emilia?! You know that corpse stalkers have a acidic saliva! Why wouldn't you stand down?!" The wolf head then snapped back " I don't know Ryela, maybe because that was OUR KILL! We both are hungry! And that human was our food!" As the two heads argued, reya snuck off, not wanting to meet a fate almost every cloud Fox would face in the presence of a Hytta, which would be the cloud Fox getting swallowed alive by said Hytta. The young cloud fox rushed to the central werewolf pack of the forest and explain the situation. The alpha sighed and said " Sunea, Galaxy, Dove! Come here!" She said. Then, a galaxy neko, a light harpy and a kitsune ran came over " yes alpha?" The kitsune said. " some humans just entered the forest and now Karma has split them up, I have a feeling that some of the humans that were in the forest are currently at the corpse stalker lair. I'm trusting you three to rescue any humans in their and bring them here, the resistance will be able to protect them. In the meantime I'll gather others for more search parties. Got it?" She said "got it" The Kitsune said, and with that three creatures were off

(if you are wondering what a corpse stalker looks like, I can drive out, and it's going to go into my creature encyclopedia book for the creature they make, but in the meantime just imagine an octopus carrion crawler hybrid)
