Chapter Two:
"Teams and Tantrums"
xXx
You were packing your things and getting ready to meet Oikawa as promised. Surprisingly, it was quiet; no shouting from those groups of boys, no squealing from those petty fangirls, and no chattering of random students passing by... just silence.
But, of course, everything comes to an end.
"(Surname)-chan!!" Izumi shouted. Her voice was high-pitched and sounded like she was about to throw one of her infamous tantrums.
Izumi ran in front of you and placed her hand on her hips. Her face was a light pink, tears pricked the corner of her eyes, and tick marks appeared on her temples. "(Surname)-chan, you lied to me!" Izumi shouted, her voice wavered and you could tell if you said something, anything that she didn't want to hear, she would burst.
"What do you mean? I never lied to you." You asked, genuinely confused. What did she mean? You don't recall speaking to her today. Today was a B-day so you don't have any classes with her.
"You did it! You lied! You don't have volleyball practice today, your team is on break!"
Ah... that's what she meant. Your eyes widened slightly from the sudden epiphany you just had. You calmed yourself down so you wouldn't give away your realization.
Now, all I have to do is play dumb...
"What do you mean? I know my team is on break, why would I lie about it?" You asked.
Izumi's eyes widened, she had an offended look on her face and that's when things went south.
Big pearls of tears fell out of Izumi's big, onyx eyes like waterfalls. Her face turned redder and she clenched the hem of her uniform skirt. "Y-you... hate me, don't you?" She asked, her voice cracked and more tears threatened to bust loose.
Your eyes widened at her choice of words and this time you didn't bother to hide your surprise.
"N-n-no! That's not it... I-Izumi-san, p-please don't cry! I promise I-I don't hate you!" That wasn't a lie. You don't hate her, she's just bothersome.
"No!!" Izumi yelled, she stomped her foot in childish behavior. Her choice of volume and actions made passing students stop and stare. You and your anti-social self started to freak out because of the unwanted attention. You heard a lot of voices but you could only make out a few sentences.
"There goes Izumi-san, throwing her tantrums again."
"I wonder what (Surname)-senpai did to upset Izumi-chan..."
"I'd never expect (Surname)-san to upset Izumi-san."
Izumi ignored the whispering and kept her strong gaze on you. Her damp cheeks were rosy, but not as red as before. Her eyes still were welled up with tears but they didn't dare to fall. She clenched her fists tighter and tighter to the point where her already-pale fists turned white. Your heart hurt to see her in such a state. She was such a petite girl and she reminded you of your late twin sister.
Ah... Arisa (Surname), your late twin sister. She had FFI which led to her death. She was very patient and kind. She didn't deserve to die, she had a bright future ahead but... she wasn't strong enough to stay on this earth. She wasn't strong enough to fight off that stupid disease. That stupid disease that she got from y'all's father. That stupid disease that she couldn't fight off because there was no cure, no management. You can't blame your family for carrying that gene that gave Arisa FFI, you knew you couldn't but... you couldn't help it. Sometimes you'd think about the brighter future Arisa could've had if she was born into a different family.
