Birds chirping outside excited a little girl, her eyes filled with wonder and excitement as she looked out the window, the sun's rays shining brightly  and landing on the girls blonde hair "Dad?" she asked, she was no older than eight years old, "What is it dear?" Replied a man with brown hair who was sitting on a chair reading a newspaper. Shifting his gaze from the newspaper he turned to look at his daughter, who's eyes were pinned to the floor. Frowning in concern as his daughter looked to be upset he stood up from his seat and crouched in front of her  "What's wrong dear?"  he smiled softly, hoping that would encourage her to speak "Can we.. can we go out?" Her father sighed "Oh Mari, we've talked about this, if they see you outside with  me or your mother you'll be taken away from us, you know that Mari, and you know we love you and we'd be very upset if you were gone from our lives" instead of looking away in defeat as Mari usually would she stomped her foot and look at her father angrily, Marinette was tired of hearing the same thing over and over. That life outside was oh so dangerous, she looked her father straight in the eyes and spoke. "I don't want to stay inside all the time! I want to go out too!"

The man held her gaze "Mari, it's not safe, if it were up to me I would take you out every single day but I can't" Mari's father said firmly, there was no way he could go out without having the risk of being caught, he couldn't let his daughter be taken away. His train of thought was interrupted by a mutter "What was that?" He said curiously "Then teach me how to be safe" Mari said more confidently, eyes twinkling with hope.

Mari's father brushed a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, looking at her eyes, running her words through his head before coming to a decision "I'm teaching you how to fight" Mari's eyes widened "Really!" He nodded and smiled at her big grin, this was his daughter and he was so happy to see her smile.

"Now! Go change into something comfortable and meet me in the living room" Mari nodded "Sir, yes sir!" she ran down the hall and to her room to get ready while her father headed to his bedroom. Upon entering he was met with the sight of his 'wife' reading on the bed "Hey shithole" she greeted, he chuckled "Hello to you too" he said while pulling off his shirt to replace it with a tank top, he didn't bother switching his pants out for sweatpants because he was already wearing a pair. He put on a pair of running shoes, about to head out to the living room when he was stopped "You don't work out on Sundays, are you going somewhere?"  his 'wife' asked, he gave a smirk "I didn't know you paid attention to my routine" she rolled her eyes "Forget  I asked".

"I'm teaching Mari to fight" His wife's eyes widened and she got up from the bed "Your doing what now?" he sighed expecting this reaction "Harley it was by her request" she gave him a glare "Sure it was, because every eight year old girl wants to learn how to fight!" her husband sighed "Listen I'm not changing my plans alright? You can either help or sit the fuck down and shut up" Harley slapped him, he glared daggers at her in turn "Don't to dare speak to me that way, I'm not a dog" he laughed "You sure? I hear a bitch barking" Harley went in to give him another slap-

"Dad! I'm ready!" Mari called out from the living room, Harley's 'husband' spit on her and left, Harley wiped her cheek and felt a tear slide down her face, how did she have a kid with him again? She threw everything behind only for him to spit in her face now.  Harley changed into a pair of leggings and a black tanktop.

She joined her daughter and asshole of a husband, "Is mom going to join us?" Mari's father turned, slightly surprised to see her behind him "I'm just going to make sure you don't go over your limits sweetheart" she smiled. There was no way she'd leave her daughter alone with him again.

Mari was on her knees and gasping for air, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead, that had been tough she hadn't expected training to be that hard, but even with that she made it through training with the encouraging words of her mom.
