As If

Auntie Shay and I burst into the dressing rooms, arms piled with clothes that we have picked out over the past two hours.

"Oh, try this one on! It will look gorgeous on your skin tone!" Auntie Shay exclaims, "but yet again, everything looks great on you, darling!"

I stifle a giggle as I look at what she's talking about. It's a deep red, satin dress, short with a slit down the side and spaghetti straps. It's gorgeous, but certainly not my style!

"Oh auntie Shay, you do know that I'm not going to the prime ministers house, right?" I giggle, "I'm going to the Weasleys."

Auntie Shay scoffs, "well, you never know! Plus those handsome Weasley boys will be there! And that Ronny," she winks, "most certainly has feelings for you."

I feel myself get flushed in the face and change the subject, "Any other clothes you want me to try on?"

"Well, all of them, silly!"

I slip on the red dress... it does frame me well... and, not that it matters... but it's on sale...

"Oh you need to get it! Add it to the Totally-In-Love-With-These-And-We-Are-Getting-Them-All pile!" Auntie Shay squeals. I swear she's like a teenager herself. I throw the dress on a pile with a few ripped jeans and red crop tops. The next outfit I try on is just my style.

I look in the mirror, my red and black plaid striped skirt goes so well with a white, long, tube top. I pin my hair back with some red barrettes I brought along. I...I looked pretty.

"Oh you look gorgeous!! Promise me you'll wear this tomorrow for your little 'adventure'?" Auntie Shay eyed me,making sure I wouldn't break her promise.

"Ok auntie!" I laughed, secretly relieved however. I would have been confident enough to wear the outfit if Shay hadn't made me promise to.

As Auntie Shay and I were checking out at the store, she placed down a certainly revealing black bikini, with no straps and bikini bottoms that were held together at the sides with criss crosses. "For if you go swimming," she added with a wink. My mouth dropped open to protest but she simply shushed me and paid.

At home, Auntie made a delicious chicken Caesar salad and sweet tea. We sat on our back patio, looking over our backyard. It was gorgeous with the canopy over us in lounge chairs, overlooking a large in ground fountain, leading into an infinity pool, surrounded by Japanese style gardening. Our cherry blossoms had been delayed in their blooming this year and were just starting to fall next to the pool.

I took a bite of my salad and sighed. "Oh auntie Shay," I breathed, "I'm gonna miss you!"

Auntie Shay snorted, "Is this new realization affected by my salad?"

"Oh for sure," I closed my eyes and leaned back into my lounge chair, both of us laughing. I was so lucky to have auntie Shay around. She moved in with us after her and her husband, Ray, divorced. We both knew he was using her for her money, but we would never admit it. Auntie Shay was executive assistant to the Minister of Magic, so she mainly worked from our house. I knew she only lived with us because if it wasn't for her, I'd always be alone. She's the kindest person I've ever met. Well, her and the Weasleys.

"I better go pack," I got up, taking my salad with me to our marble kitchen.

"Ok hun! It's getting late," Auntie Shay checked her watch, "it's almost 9:30, so when you're done get some sleep so you are rested for tomorrow!"

"Will do!" I called over my shoulder, bounding up the long stairs. I swung open my door, sitting on the floor, beside my trunk. I packed all the clothes Aunt Shay and I bought today plus some extra pajamas and hoodies, pausing on the bikini. I set it down and went to my closet. I walked in and rummaged through the long row of clothes, stopping on a one piece bathing suit, my only other swimsuit. I took off my clothes, and tried to slip on the striped one piece.

"UGHHHHH," I groaned. It didn't even fit over my butt, "sexy bikini it is then..." I flung the bikini into my trunk along with a pair of sunglasses.

Two hours later, I looked around my room, drawers open and emptied. I slipped on my last night gown that wasn't packed and brushed my teeth. I slinked into my plush bed, turning off the lights.

"Goodnight, Lilia," I peeped to my owl, "Sleep well, tomorrow's gonna be the start of the best summer ever."
