chapter 12: Surprises

(Flashback)

Hey! What are you doing here?" The shorter kid with a bowl cut said to her. He asked, with his bucktooth was seen from his mouth. The boy spotted me following him.

" I'm sorry, I mistaked you for someone else. I should be going now." I said, feeling disappointed.

" This is not good. You followed me to the secret base! Kai will not be happy AAAAH! " The kid started pannicking and talking to himself.

" Hey, what's with the noise- Oh do we have a new member? Hey Mike, who is she?" A smaller child with blonde hair and bright blue eyes steps in, curiously.

" Yes, she is the new member. I'm sorry miss but what is your name?"

" You can call me Seo." I said.

" I am Emilia but everyone calls me Emi!" The young girl says, cheerfully.

Some time later..

".. And that is Mark and Mirai is his twin sister both are serious nerds, and our leader is away for now but he is the oldest here." The boy introduced the other children.

The twins had dark hair, they were playing chess against each other.

And I'm the co-leader of the group, Mike." Mike introduced himself, sounding proud.

"Oh I see. So what do you do around here?"  I asked him.

" Our cool group used to be from an orphanage but we ran away. For now we just play games and we try to have fun! Sometimes Kai, our leader brings back cool items from the other floors. He trains us to someday climb the tower!"

"Would you like to join us, big sister?" Emi, the smallest girl asked.

" We shouldnt be recruiting random kids outside." Mirai stopped looking at their game and looked at us.

She looked very identical to Mark who also wore glasses. She had medium- length brown hair braided to the right side and black eyes. The girl wore a plain brown dress that reached her knee.

" I guess she can be the first one! We need more girls in the group." Emi says, excitedly. 

" I agree with Mirai, this seems like a bad idea.. What if she reports us to them?" Mark argues. The other twin also had the same hair and eye color as Mirai, he wore brown shirt and pants.

" Don't start fighting now. Let's just wait for Kai to get here and we will know what to do by then.."  Mike tries to calm them down before a fight starts. 

A loud knock came from the door that was locked.

" Ahh there he is! Big brother is late again!" The shortest kid, Emi, shrieked out loud. Her loud voice got everyone's attention turned to the newcomer.

Another person came in, he was probably the tallest person here, he had blonde hair and blue eyes like Emi, wore a black shirt under a coat with fur. He carried a sack over his shoulder. 

" Hey guys! Sorry I helped an old man cross the road. It took a very long time though.."  He casually says, his face looking apologetic. He brings out a doll to the younger girl. " And Emi, I got you something."

"Yaaaay! thank you! you're the best"

" Talk about perfect timing, hey where is our souvenier, leader?" Mira says.

" Seriously.. And didn't he use that excuse before?" Mike complains.

" Now calm down. I got something for you guys too. But before that.." The tall guy faces my direction with a smile.

" I see a new face is in our base.. So, who are you miss?" He turn to me.

" Nice to meet you, you can call me Seo." I shook his hand, and hid my family name on purpose. "I followed Mike there, I thought he looked like someone I know."

" Which is really weird miss! You can't trust strangers like that.." Mike says. " You're lucky to meet our co-leader first. This territory of the Outer floor is not safe."

" Ah, my bad.. I do get distracted easily. I got separated from my friend though." I sweatdrop at myself.

" Since you know the location of our base, I'm afraid we have to make you a member." Kai steps in. " Please don't tell anyone about this place. We ran away for a reason you see."

"We used to be from the Hope Orphanage but have left that place. I am their leader, Kai." The tall boy explains and held his hand out to shake.

"Kai, you can't recruit more members when you feel like it.." Mark says. " What if she reports us-"

" No way! There's no way she will betray us! Right older sis?" The youngest girl asked me innocently.

" Oh great, Emi is now on that girl's side.."

The group of children around Kai argued on what to do. Kai only sweatdropped at them and tried to calm them down.

" I should introduce them to him, maybe we can all be friends.." I thought to myself, smiling.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

I forced my eyes to open, as the sound of knocking came from the door. I groaned and thought, what a strange dream I had. Who were those children from my dream? Am I starting to remember?

The loud knocking at the door cut off my thoughts and I carefully stood up to walk towards the door. My pain from my injuries yesterday seems to almost gone.

I twisted the door knob and what is before me was surprising.

There stood two regulars from the crown game, a man with a friendly smile and purple tracksuit. The other one is the pale swordsman who looked shocked for some reason.

"Um..what can I help you with?"

"Hi! PLEASE BE FRIENDS WITH US!" The dark skinned guy bends forward and hands a paper with a list in front of me.
