"Listen to me now, Venus! You need to run, run as far as you can and never turn back!"
Hands held tightly onto her figure, screams far in the distance almost overthrowing the ladies as she yelled her instructions at the poor girl. The girl, Venus, could only stare up at the lady hopelessly. Tears were dripping down both their faces, and while Venus looked hopeless and terrified, the lady refused to let the fear dance within her eyes.

"But what about you?!" Venus wept, clutching tightly onto the ladies arm. "Goddamnit Venus! Run for the hills!" The lady barked, her tears furiously fell as she pushed Venus roughly out of their ragged cottage and out the back towards the ominous forest, the opposite of the village that was behind them that erupted in flames and screams of horror. "Run! Run like hell!" The lady kept pushing, the girls stumbling hastily in their matted white nightgowns over the patchy grass and to the tree line of the forest. Just as they made it, the door to their old home had blown to bits as a man covered in a black cloak emerged from the flames that now danced in their old house. "Anna!" The lady, now known as Anna, turned back to glance at the man. Anna whipped her head back to Venus, and within the time Venus had spent with her when their village was attacked, Anna let her overwhelming fear cloud her rusty copper eyes. She smiled though, and just in that moment, Venus realized how beautiful Anna is - her wavy beach blonde hair, some hairs sticking out, her tan skin that complimented those sweet copper eyes that always relieved Venus and her gap-toothed smile. Anna, the one who Venus loved, gave her last goodbye.

Heavy pants echoed through the thick mist of the forest, the dewy grass dampening the ends of Venus's gown as she leapt and sprinted over the logs and stumps. "Hah...! Hah...! Hic-" she bought a hand up and furiously wiped away the tears that drizzled down her pale cheeks, biting her lip hard as she ran. One after the other, all the trees looked the same - big and tall, some were skinny and lanky while the others were thick and strong. The uneven grass stood tall, bushes reaching out and spreading wide with the occasional berries hung on the leaves. Sharp sticks would often spring from the ground, cutting at Venus's leg and ripping the lower hem of her gown. Every now and then, she would hear the hooves of deers running and the alarmed chirps of birds, or even the running tide of the vast river that she was approaching.
A loud startled and pained gasp erupted from Venus as she blindly fell into a dispatched area that linked to the river, falling into the water hole with no air in her lungs. A splash sounded, alarming Venus as she opened her eyes under the water. Her eyes immediately stung but she ignored it, instead opting to look up to the surface of the water. Rays of light hit the water, sinking down into the depths calmly, the moon barely peeking over the tall treetops. Venus stopped moving, suddenly finding herself calm despite the cold that pricked her skin from the surrounding waters. She didn't make a move, not evening moving for more air once she felt her chest tighten up from lack of oxygen. No, this was too peaceful, too calming. She had just lost her love to the hands of death, so why shouldn't she join? Venus smiled at her thought, her eyes fluttering slowly to a close. Just as she closed her eyes, she saw the misshapen figure of a person standing above the water hole before her last breath escaped, the bubbles floating to the top.

"Hah-!" Taking in a deep breath, Venus snapped her eyes open, her hands clenching into a fist as she started coughing up the water in her lungs. Rolling over to her left, she propped herself up on her elbow, the remaining liquid soon falling from her mouth. Bringing up her other hand, she wiped away the water from her eyes once realizing her vision was a little blurry. Now breathing heavy but steadily, she looked back down into the water hole she was just in. Venus furrowed her brows in confusion, something was different. Strange, even. She leaned forward, finally seeing her reflection. Her eyes widened, a gasp leaving her agape.
Long black tresses curled over her ivory pale shoulder, touching the surface of the water and even spiralling around her figure. Deep red eyes poured into her own, long curled lashes framing her down turned eyes. A long narrow upturned nose, reddish plump lips, pure white teeth and two sharp elongated fangs.
Venus could only look at herself in an array of emotions, confusion, bewilderment, disbelief, all of it. She leaned back slowly, as if trying to get away from a predator that dared to pounce any second.
