I love you...

Three words I'd never said but I wish I had.

That night my parents died changed me forever.

It was 11:41 PM and we had just gotten back from our trip to Europe. We lived in a three story mansion on the East Coast side of Coripia. I remember feeling too tired to even walk by myself so my father carried me up the stairs all the way to my room on the third floor. He tucked me tightly in my bed and I felt the warmth of his lips as he kissed me on the forehead. As soon as my head hit the pillow I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful slumber. Although, that didn't last very long. I had been suddenly awakened by the sound of arguing.

Unfortunately for me, the house was huge, but privacy was basically non-existent because of the huge air vents. I sprung out of my bed and tiptoed to the second floor where all of the commotion was happening. As I approached the door, the sound of unfamiliar voices became more audible. I peeked my head around the door frame and right away I noticed a man and a woman dressed in seemingly expensive clothing. The woman, whose skin was as pale as marble, was dressed in a long and elegant black gown. It was layered in a way that made her look almost mystical. Alongside her was the man, whose skin matched hers perfectly. He too, was dressed in all black; the shine of a skull brooch sparkling ever so slightly on his collar.

I listened inquisitively by the door. I was so desperate to know who these people were, not knowing that I would soon regret this decision for the rest of my life. As I listened, I heard my father say, "Look, Zila, we can talk about this. My family has been of great service to you for decades. As the co-founder of Cyber High, you should know that we would never do anything to go against that hard work. The dedication we put in that school to make it what it is today, is just too valuable." He spoke in a deep tone full of conviction. My mom stood beside him watching the other man intently, the fear evident in her eyes. The man, whose name I learned was Zila, spoke.

"I care little for what you say, William. My servants are never wrong about things like this, it is apart of their soul contract after all. I'm afraid I have no choice but to murder you and your entire family for your incredible betrayal"

At that moment I felt paralyzed with fear. Who were these strange people in our home? What did my father do to cause such an implausible reaction? I wish I hadn't stopped to think those questions. I wish I had ran as soon as I heard him say those words...but I stayed. I watched as my parents were brutally murdered. I fought back the piercing urge to scream. Witnessing that quickly snapped me back into reality. I ran as quickly as I could to my old hiding spot from when I was younger. It was a small door that was hidden away, just in case someone tried to harm my family. I sat in the small, dark room for hours. The memory of my parents being slaughtered playing over and over in my mind.

That was 6 years ago. I am eighteen years old now and I am a senior at Cyber High. After the incident, I fled the West Coast and headed for the North. That is where my family kept our second home. It was supposed to be left for me after I graduated high school, but seeing as though I am an orphan now, I figured I shouldn't let it go to waste. Since my family was disgustingly rich, I had plenty of resources to keep me on my feet. I spent the next few years plotting my revenge against Zila and his entire family. From there I changed my entire identity. My hair is now a blonde color that hangs just a little past my shoulders. I have several piercings on my body, and I have gotten a lot skinnier since then. I also wear colored contacts that makes one eye appear to be pink and the other, blue.

This is my last year as a student at Cyber High. My status here is basically non-existent. I am not even ranking in the top 100. Everyone here thinks I am just some wannabe loser who just so happens to have a lot of money.

It almost makes me smile knowing that everything is going as planned....almost.
