1.4k reads! My god I was not expecting this. I'm so sorry I haven't posted a chapter in a while, I'm still adjusting to my new school. I hope you enjoy the new chapter! (Sorry about the sudden ending I wanted to update as soon as possible)
Nobody's POV (aka 3rd person)
Hinata walks away from the trio to brush his hair, as soon as he leaves the room and a door is heard closing they explode into laughter. "Ohmygoshhishair!" Viktor manages. Once they calm down enough they go back to talking. "So what are you guys going to do?" Yurio asks. The others stare at him blankly. "To give him a break, idiots! I swear you both share one brain cell." Yurio sighs. They begin to brainstorm for as long as they could. They eat dinner and Hope tomorrow goes a little better than today.
The next day
"I won! That's-" Hinata gleefully shouted before Kageyama cut him off. "Shut up dumbass. I get it." He grunts. Daichi showed up 15 minutes later with the key. With a deep sigh he unlocks the door after pushing his underclassmen away. "I should really just get you guys keys or something at this point." Daichi mumbles to himself. Slowly but surely the rest of the team filters into the gym within the next half hour. Daichi finds himself standing idle and decides to ask Hinata some questions instead of doing nothing. "Hey Hinata, nice compression sleeve. Where were you yesterday? Nishinoya told us you left sometime during lunch." He asked. Hinata looked confused before realization then came dread. He was so easy to read sometimes. "Oh, right, haha. Some relatives came from out of town so my mom wanted me to greet them when they got there as a surprise. I completely forgot until lunchtime! Silly old me!" Hinata says making funny faces the whole time but still obviously lying. "What did you end up doing all day?" Daichi asks hoping to get more information. Hinata gives him an awkward smile and looks around to the others for help. "We kinda just went and did a few things they haven't done in a long time." He gives a nervous smile before looking down. Hinata couldn't lie to save his life, that much was obvious. "Whatever, let's start practice already!" Kageyama shouts.
When morning practice finally got interesting (actually playing, not practicing drills) everyone seemed to perk up a bit. Hinata had been clumsy all day, he really wanted to redeem himself during the practice matches. Kageyama sets the ball perfectly, he approaches the jump, he goes for it, but he's too low. You could feel the disappointment steaming off of Hinata. He quickly shook it off after Kageyama yelled at him for screwing something easy up. Back into the spirit, Kageyama and Hinata make a successful quick attack. This process repeats for a few more points, each time Hinata becoming more disappointed than the last. Even Kageyama could tell something was up by the time Hinata missed the 3rd spike in a row. "Are you ok?" Kageyama asks as nicely as he can. Hinata looks up and smiles faintly. "I'm fine." Kageyama suddenly understood why everyone hated when he smiled, because he never has a meaning behind it, no joy or happiness. Hinata's are always filled to the brim with joy and happiness, it was weird to see him so devoid of it. It was almost disturbing. "You don't have to be fine, idiot. Take a break for a bit. Get a new perspective. Maybe it'll help you if you sit out for a few rounds." Kageyama reasons. The team stares blankly at him unsure if that was really Kageyama or some alien sent to replace him. "What? I can be nice dumbasses!" He shouts after he notices the stares.
Skip to lunch time
Hinata was sulking during lunch once again, he wasn't in the lunchroom like normal, no, he was up at the roof. Nishinoya and Kageyama looked for a few minutes before defeatedly going to the lunchroom.
Hinata's POV
I wanted to avoid everyone, I had been trying all morning to get everything right and to make everyone happy but I've been running out of steam lately. Even Kageyama noticed I was weird today! I never expected him to notice. I hope everything is fine for the rest of the day. I sit down on the roof and eat my lunch alone, left to my thoughts and the silence.
Skip to after school practice (still Hinata's POV)
I swear today just got worse. I was focused on everyone else that I forgot to fill out any notes from class! I head to the gym in hopes to play more volleyball today. I walk in silently remembering that Tsukishima said something a while ago about being annoyed with the door constantly being thrown open. He looks at me strangely before I disappear into the locker room.
No ones PoV
Suga, Daichi, Yamaguchi, Tsukishima, and the extras (I'm so sorry I cannot remember their names for the life of me they're barely mentioned by name) get to they gym early. They wait for everyone to arrive, waiting impatiently for the door to be thrown open, only for it to be gently open by their orange haired crow. Hinata opens the door almost silently and walks into the locker room immediately, usually he slams the door open, shouts hello and greets everyone before running into the locker room energetically. Immediately red flags went up in their heads. As soon as the door closed they all turned to one another worriedly. "Ok, that was weird." Suga said. Everyone nods. Tsukishima thinks for a minute trying to think of what might be wrong. "I think he's trying to be thoughtful, I made a comment a while ago about how I don't like the door constantly being thrown open." He says with a poker face. Yamaguchi makes a confused expression. "That doesn't explain why he was essentially silent. We can ask Kageyama!" Yamaguchi suggests. The six of them agree to ask whoever had been with him during the day if they know anything.
Nishinoya has been waiting all day to ask where Hinata had been, he was excited for volleyball and for a chance to talk to Hinata. He bursts through the door and shouts "WHO'S READY FOR RRRRROOOOOOOLLING THHHHUNDERRR!!" and greets everyone. He looks for Hinata, but he was still in the locker room. "Where's Hinata?" Nishinoya sys looking around. Daichi looks at him confused. "He's in the locker room, why?" Daichi asks. Noya nods and thinks for a moment. "I couldn't find him anywhere during lunch, neither could Kageyama. He usually sits with one of us or his many friends but no one knew where he was." Noya said frustrated. He joined the others in waiting for Hinata.
