(A/N: There are a lot of jumping in time so if you're a little lost, this is three years after Leah gave birth to her son, so seven years after they found the cure.)
Three years later.
"Come on Daddy, wake up!!"
I couldn't help the smile that was spreading across my face. Jayden was pulling at Damon's shorts, trying to get him to wake up. How was he already three years old? He looked so much like his dad, he was my mini Damon. I looked at the clock on the bedside table and yawned when I saw it was only seven thirty on a Sunday morning.
"Jay, it's wayyy too early, go back to sleep bud." Damon mumbled, still with his eyes closed.
"But you said we'd play football today!!" Jayden pleaded, still pulling.
"What time is it?" Damon asked, turning around to face me.
"Time to take your son out of the room so that I can go back to sleep." I answered, still smiling.
"Come on, dad!!" Jayden insisted.
He took matter into his own hands since Damon was still not moving and climbed on the bed before attacking him with a pillow. They both started laughing and, of course, attacked me too. It was in moments like these that I realized how happy I was and how great my life was. It was this sort of overwhelming feeling in your stomach and it never got old.
"Come on Jay, let's go downstairs and let your mom sleep a little, she was up all night writing." Damon said, taking our son to put him on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
He turned back around before exiting the room.
"I love you." He told me.
He never failed to find ways to make the butterflies appear in my stomach, even after all these years. I smiled and whispered 'love you too' before going back to sleep.
"So, who won the game?" I asked when we were all eating lunch.
Jayden rose his hand. "Me!! Daddy was really bad today."
"Maybe because daddy couldn't sleep more than six hours last night." Damon teased him, tickling his side. "Plus, you cheated, you kept passing between my legs."
"Perks of being small." I smiled.
"I'm not small!" Jay retorted.
"I know sweetie, but I keep forgetting you're not my little baby anymore."
Speaking of babies... How was I going to tell Damon? I kept pushing the moment back but I was beginning to show so I would have to tell him soon. I don't know why I was so anxious to announce it, he had been so happy when I had told him about being pregnant with Jayden, so why would he react any differently now?
"Can I go to my room now?" Jay asked, raising his big grey eyes and moving his head between Damon and me.
"Yes go, but don't forget Hayley is coming in an hour!" Damon reminded him.
Hayley was Seth and Jenny's daughter and she was just a few months younger than Jayden. They hung out a lot together since Jenny and Seth came visiting as often as they could. It wasn't as weird anymore to know my brother and best friend were together, I was just happy for them. I looked over at Damon who was checking something on his phone.
"I just got a text from Mathew, he should be here at two." He announced before putting his phone back in his pocket.
Mathew lived in another state so he couldn't visit as much but he had become a really close friend of mine now that he came over more.
