This is my first ever fanfic and I'm 11 so please don't judge! Enjoy!

Rowan couldn't sleep.

He has been lying next to Aelin for the past hour listing to her heavy breathing, unable to sleep. He was worried about her, he had saved her from Maeve's clutches almost five months ago but she would never be the same, she would always have the nightmares, flashbacks and Insomnia.

She was laying next to him and he was still just listening when he noticed her breathing become quicker, faster, harder.

Rowan immediately twisted round to face her, like her life depended on it, and found her asleep.
"Fireheart?" He whispered through the darkness. She looked like she was in pain and then he realised, she was having a nightmare.

Should he wake her?
No that would scare her and he would never wish to scare his Fireheart.
Should he leave her?
He couldn't she was in the middle of a nightmare.

As he was debating his options, she screamed. She woke up with a start and suddenly Rowan was at her side, whispering things into her ear.
"Fireheart I'm here, no one can hurt you! Your safe with me." He comforted her as she started to cry. Rowan let her hug him and pulled her to his chest and held her tight as she cried and cried for what seemed like forever.

After about ten minutes she was still crying, not sobbing though. Her crying was light, she wasn't really making much noise but still had tears streaming down her face.

Rowan then dared to ask,
"Would you like to talk about it?", it was the first thing both of them had said in a while. She looked up at him, slowly, with tears streaming down her cheeks. He cupped his hands around her cheeks and looked down at her, looking at how beautiful she was. He was so lucky to have someone like her. He didn't deserve her and he never would.

"I would probably rather just try and forget about it." She sniffled.
"Sorry".
"It's okay Fireheart! Its okay if you don't want to talk about it." He explained.
"Thanks" she sighed, relieved.

"Do you need anything? Can I get you anything? Is there anything I can do for you?" Rowan asked. He was anxious, he always was when she woke up screaming.
"Buzzard" she mumbled. He could feel her smirking against his chest.
"Actually..." she looked up at him with puppy dog eyes.
"Can You please get me some chocolate?"
"Fireheart it's two in the morning!"
"But you asked! If your going to get me anything it's going to be chocolate." She was smiling now,
"Or chocolate milk" she added pleadingly.
"Which one Fireheart?" He questioned her,
"Anything! I'm hungry!"

He ended up coming back with both.
"Okay so I wasn't sure if you would be disappointed if I got you the wrong one or
something so I got you both!" Rowan announced.
"Aww for me?" She looked like she was going to burst of happiness. She was on her period and to be honest, anything could make her cry.
"For you!" He emphasised

She almost burst into tears just because of how kind he was being. He then came and sat next to her on the bed with the chocolate and handed her the chocolate milk. He handed her the milk and she took a sip

"Oh my god this is so good!" She exclaimed. Rowan chuckled.
"No I'm serious! Try some!" She forced him to take a sip and he finally obliged.
"Wow that is really good!" He nodded in agreement,
"But I wonder how this tastes!"
He handed her the chocolate and she immediately opened it.

"Mmmmm"
"You like it?" he inquired
"Here" She broke off a piece of chocolate and handed it to him. He took at bite of the chocolate and mumbled something that would suggest he liked the taste.

"Actually there's one more thing I want"
"Anything, Fireheart"
She stared into his pine green eyes as she slowly moved towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him close.
He was surprised, but just hugged her tighter. Aelin only pulled back for a kiss.

They spent the next half hour cuddling and kissing and talking, until finally, Aelin fell asleep again Rowan's his arms and finally, Rowan fell asleep too.
