The day after Christmas, I got a text from Casey:

Casey: Thanks for the presents again, hope you can come by again today.

I smiled as I looked at his message. He really misses me, I sent him back “on my way” I grabbed my stuff and drove to his house again. When I walked in the house seemed plain, Doug was not home. The stove was not turned on and there seemed to be a rope on the ground. I didn’t question it and went into Casey’s room. Before I actually walked into his room the hallway smelt like burnt food and rotten food. I got closer to Casey’s room and I was in horror. There was blood everywhere! It’s like a murder happened. I slowly went closer to Casey’s bed and pulled the sheet. He was shot! I could not process what was happening! I started breaking down, I cried for a good solid 45 minutes before realizing that I need to do something. I tried not to touch Casey’s body. I slowly looked around the room and saw an open window, I went to the window and saw it was opened. Looks like someone tried to get in. I went around the room more investigating what could've happened, I know that after I think might have happened. I went to call the police. I found Casey’s phone screen up the text message box with my name on it, there was also blood on the screen. My theory is that someone killed him after he sent the text message like it was against his will. I look over and see the belt I gave him, covered in blood. He was shot in the head and in the abdomen. More likely where he was punched and that was his weak spot. After looking at this horror with my own eyes, I called the police. When they arrived they asked me what happened, I told them that Casey sent me a text and then I found him dead in his bed. It was a traumatic experience for everyone. As soon as I left the crime scene I went back home and told my parents everything. They were shocked like I was and they felt sad too. They grew to like Casey. I was brought into the police station 3 days after Casey was murdered, they wanted to question me. They gave me some questions and I answered honestly. I also wanted to ask them some questions on who I think the murder is on the case. I said it was Lance. I gave them a full description of him, the police then brought Lance into questioning. They wanted me to give him the questions. “Tina!” Lance shouted, “Why am I here!” “Shut your fucking mouth Kyson! I know what you did!” I yelled. I was very mad I knew Lance was behind this whole case. “You killed him!” Lance looked confused, “I-I didn’t kill your fucking boyfriend” “Don’t play smart with me, I know you did!” I glanced into his eyes. “Why would you think it was me?” he said. “Because you threatened to kill him if you ever saw him with me!” “Well, that was a threat! I would never kill anyone!” Lance got up from the chair he was sitting in and crossed his arms. “Sure, I may be a bad guy, Tina but I would never go this extreme,” I looked down at the floor then back at Lance, he’s probably right. He didn’t kill Casey, no matter how many times I would’ve thought of it. He’s not the murderer. I look over at the cops and shake my head. The officers nodded and let Lance leave then they came in. “We need further investigation,” I say. “You guys said you found a gun right? And the blonde hair that was on it. Do you think it must’ve been a suicide?” I looked at the officers. They started discussing what should happen next. I was dismissed to leave the police station and decided to help them with their investigation. They gave me photos of the crime scene and samples that were taken. I examined those photos one by one. There is no way Lance could’ve done it because he doesn’t own a gun or a knife for that matter. I believe that it was suicide but I’m not one-hundred percent sure. I’m thinking the text message that was sent to me was Casey in a way telling him that it was his final goodbye. That wouldn’t explain the open window though. Hopefully, the crime will be solved soon. .
