COFFEE

☕️

It was lunch now, and San felt giddy as he walked to the cafeteria. He didn't quite understand why he was so excited about such a mundane event as eating, but he assumed it was because of  his friends. They made it special. Although, he had never had trouble making friends; that wasn't what was special to him

They were interesting. They seemed to enjoy being around the teen just as much as he did with them, and San craved that. For an extrovert like him, there was no better feeling in the world than making someone like you. Though that had never been an issue for San. He was a socially awkward social butterfly, or at least that's what he liked to call it

He had actually been quite popular at his old school, although it was a much smaller one. He was nice to people, and didn't have to work very hard to make a good first impression. San was one of those few lucky individuals that are just like magnets to others; irresistibly charming

It had worked out that way with his new group of friends too. He met Mingi on his first day of school in math class, whom he easily became close with. The taller was quick to invite him to sit with his group of "fellas" at lunch. San found his phrasing strange but agreed nonetheless, and the rest is history

He had now gone and sat with them every day since school began, and the teen thoroughly enjoyed it. They could talk and joke about whatever. They all seemed to fit together like one big puzzle, which was very different from any friend groups the boy had previously been a part of. San found one aspect of it especially thrilling:

Jung Wooyoung

For the first time in his life, San had to try and win someone over. It was new, foreign, and oh so exciting. It was a type of game that he couldn't get enough of, similar to a house cat finding a mouse, and for the first time, making an attempt to hunt. It didn't hurt that this so called "mouse" happened to be an extremely stunning individual, but that was besides the point

San was determined to play this game until he won. He would win Wooyoung over eventually, he was sure of it. For now, all he had to focus on was getting to the cafeteria. What could he say, he was hungry. One can't charm people on an empty stomach, now can they?

***

"No! You are totally a red panda!"

"Naw man, Jongho is more like a Cobra or some shit. Squeezing people to death and such."

"That's a python dumbass!"

"Whatever, a snake is a snake bro!"

San watched as Yeosang hit Yunho on the head, the younger further squabbling  about the difference between the two animals the taller boy had mixed up. Usually he would smile, even join in on their conversation, but not today. Today he was too focused on the clock, its hands seemed to be ticking faster and faster with every passing second

It was almost the end of lunch and Wooyoung wasn't there. He had never shown up like he said he would. He would have let San know if he was busy, right? He wouldn't trick him, would he? The ravenette couldn't help but spiral as the wave of possibilities crashed against the walls of his skull

Why wasn't he there? Where was he? Had he lied and blew San off? Had San done something to annoy the younger? Did he do something.......

wrong?

"Hey San, you good?"

Seonghwa's concerned voice snapped the boy out of his thoughts as he allowed his eyes to adjust, looking at the seat next to him

"O-oh, yeah. I'm Fine," he paused, smiling weakly, "Why'd you ask?"

The elder slouched, playing with his fork,

"Dunno. You just seem kinda....distracted. That's all."

San slouched back into his seat, placing a hand on the back of his neck. He couldn't help but feel the slightest tinge of embarrassment creep up his spine as he listened to the others words. He was usually deep into conversation. It was stupid to think that none of them would notice

"Oh, did I? Sorry about that."

"Don't apologize! Just felt like checking in on ya."

Seonghwa chuckled, San glancing at the hand that was now on his shoulder,

"Well thank you Hyung."

Although he wasn't fully in the moment, San couldn't help but feel gratitude towards the taller boy at this very moment. Sure, it is a simple question to ask if someone is okay, but he did asked when he didn't have to. He wondered what Wooyoung would say if he could ask him that very question right now

Maybe he had some homework to do and was working during lunch in a class. That wasn't unheard of. The younger was an excellent student and was known to frequent the library. San had also observed that although Wooyoung was not close with many students, the teachers seemed more than happy with him

He was quiet, polite, would do whatever they asked whenever they asked; an adults dream. San laid on the table, chin resting atop his arms as he conjured the image in his head. Wooyoung was dusting off the chalkboard as a teacher behind him was marking what appeared to be tests

San couldn't help but smile as he closed his eyes, trying to imagine it clearer. Even thought it wasn't real, Wooyoung looked just as he did in real life as he stood in the class room in the older boys mind. His fluffy purple locks, his stunning fox like eyes, and his quiet melodic voice; San hummed contently as he continued to "watch", drifting off to sleep as he did so

Now in dreamland, the teen was snoring on the table, not able to notice his friends looking at him with grinning faces. Hongjoong giggled as he patted the resting boy on the head, Mingi raising a brow at the quiet sounds leaving Sans lips,

"What the fuck is he smiling so creepily at?"

"Shut the hell up and let him sleep."
