-Year 4-

"Pansy this is ridiculous, we've done the love potion at least five times.". I say rolling my eyes as I take a seat on the large trunk at the end of Pansys bed. All the year four Slytherin girls were now huddled around the four poster bed where Pansy sat, proud as ever looking down over her subjects.
"Hush y/n it's just a bit of fun!". A shorter Slytherin with braids and a fluffy green housecoat on says taking a seat on the floor next to me.
"What's the point though. We all know you'll smell Blaise. Pansy will smell Draco, obviously, and I'll smell no one. As usual.". I look down at my hands desperately hoping the dormitory is too dimly lit for the other girls to see me blushing. Of course it was impossible not to smell anything. Even if you weren't in love the amortentia potion still produced smells that the person most liked. As far as my housemates were concerned that was chocolate, rain, parchment and cinnamon.
"I bet you'll smell someone this time.". Another girl pipes up from her own bed.
"Yeah y/n someone must have caught your eye by now.". Pansy looks at me rolling her eyes.
"Maybe Crabbe? Or Goyle? Don't be shy you can tell us. They're not fit but, they're eligible at least.". She smirks at me. The thing I hated Pansy for the most was her acute knowledge of how to perfectly get under my skin. I could hex her right now. Jelly jinx, the slug one Ron had tried to use on Draco. Maybe a harmless little potion, a big unpoppable pimple for a year. No no, I clench my fist behind my back, trying to calm myself down. Not yet at least.

"Alright well are we just going to sit around all day come on girls." Marcy the girl in the green robe claps her hands once. Pansy's attention is drawn away from me as she looks down at Marcy.
"Alright girls let's not just sit around. I'll go first." Clapping her hands just slightly louder than Marcy had. Reminding the girl in braids just exactly who was in charge. Pansy took out the stopper and sniffed lightly, taking it away from her face and then sniffing again.
"Apples,
broom wax,
the potions closet
and his cologne. As always.".
She sighs dreamily. The girls all let out a round of "oooohhs". Pansy feigns hiding her reddened face and hands the bottle to me. Perks of being her 'bestfriend' was I could get this over with as quickly as possible. I always went second and then got to pass off the attention to whoever Pansy chose next. I prepare myself for a moment, knowing exactly what I'll smell, and remind myself of my usual lie. Then I take a rather deep sniff. Take it away from my face and put the stopper in.
Apples
Broom wax
New parchment and ink
The potions closet
And his cologne
I smile lightly, thinking of Draco, of us if things could be different. Then I look back up at the crowd of girls. All intently staring at me with anticipating smiles. I shrug and their faces are already falling.
"Chocolate, rain, parchment and cinnamon."I say.
"That's too bad y/n". Devon the girl sitting next to Marcy says sympathetically. I wave her off, assuring the group that I'm not phased.
"Honestly girls I'm not bothered by it. Boys are rats anyways.". I wink and I'm met with scattered laughter.
"Besides at least I'm not like miss Pansy over here."I turn to the raven haired girl.
"Draco, oh Draco." I say mockingly in a singsong voice. I watch her eyes go wide as the other girls laughter gets more rambunctious.
"Pansy your 'new batch' obviously isn't as prefect as you thought.". I say, putting air quotes around new batch.
Pansy let's out an offended gasp and throws a bit of paper at me.
"I'll get you for that y/l/n." I laugh and lob the piece of paper back at her. Secretly, of course I am furious at the girl. I wish I could gush about him. I wish all the girls would 'oooh' as I wistfully stare at my hands thinking of him.

"IT IS a new batch and we worked really hard on it.". She says raising her chin at me indignantly.
Marcy giggles.
"Or were you just working hard on Draco." She lets out another giggle before she clamps a hand over her mouth, obviously quite impressed with her joke. I look from her to Pansy, sick to my stomach. He picked her, I'm violently reminded. Draco does not fancy me, he doesn't even pay attention to me half of the time. Draco likes Pansy, Draco pays attention to Pansy. Pansy is rattled by the short and usually quiet Slytherin girls cheeky comment. Another blush rising to her cheeks, she stares open mouthed at Marcy then me, looking for back up. I shake my head slightly and look back down at Marcy. Joining in on her fit of giggles. The other girls after seeing me laugh at Pansy's expense join in. The room now filled with shrill high pitched laughter.

"Y/n. I have picked Devon to go next. Hand it over.". Pansy almost yells, I can tell she's desperately trying to keep the attention and control of her audience. It works as the room grows deathly silent. I rise from my curled up position on the chest and reach over Marcy's head. Devon takes the vial quickly from my outstretched hand. Our fingers brush against each others ever so slightly. Her hand is warm. It reminds me of shaking Draco's hand right after being sorted into Slytherin. How surprisingly warm it had been. Pansy, got to feel his warm, perfect hand intertwined with her's every day. His thumb lightly rubbing over the back of her hand. Did her breath catch when he did that? Mine would. When he put his hands on each side of her face to catch her lips in a kiss, did she know just how lucky she was. Or was it just muscle memory at this point, had the excitement of being Draco Malfoy's girl worn out? I know for a fact if it was me, I would never grow tired of being his girl. Im certain I would remember every little detail of each kiss we shared. I would remind myself every time, how lucky I was.

"Pine, teakwood, lilac.". Devon sighed dreamily. She was dating a Slytherin boy in the year above us and had not stopped talking about him since their first date. Which was much more bearable than Pansy talking about Draco.

I shivered slightly as I realized how terribly cold I was sitting there in my emerald green pyjamas. I stood up to get the throw off of my bed.
Having the slytherin dormitories in the dungeons and underneath the lake did have its drawback. The one that bothered me most, was how bloody cold it always was. I don't think my hands had been completely warm since the day I set foot in the common room.

"Y/n since you're up give it to Marcy.". Pansy demanded snapping her fingers at me to get my attention. I was struck with the urge to bow to Pansy, but I couldn't risk her taking it seriously and making it an everyday thing.
I grabbed the potion from Devon and handed it to Marcy, then walked over to my bed and grabbed the throw.
I sat back down now wrapped in the soft grey material when Marcy started sniffing. After a few tries she put the stopper in.
"Fire wood, his cologne, and vanilla?". She said not sure of her own  decision.
"Has he asked you to the ball yet?". Pansy asked seeing the perfect opportunity to mention that her and Draco were now officially going together.
"B-Blaise? Yes well, sort of." Marcy says absentmindedly playing with her fingers. A nervous tick she had had as long as I'd known her.

"Well, Draco asked me". Pansy says nonchalantly, getting exactly the reaction I knew she was hoping for. Everyone let's out an excited squeal for her, except me.
"Y/n should I let them see the dress?". The girls almost die of excitement. Didn't they know they were giving her exactly what she wanted. Honestly with these girls around Pansy's head was so big I'm surprised it didn't affect her posture.
"Oh I'm not sure Pansy..". I say hesitantly giving her a wink. Playing along, all the while hating myself for it.
"Let's give them a peak at least.". She says pushing out her bottom lip as if she pitied them for not getting to see it. I stand up once again and walk to her closet taking out the carefully wrapped dress and handing it to her. Pansy magics it open.
"Of course I had to buy it from the filthy little blood traitors store but it just fit me so... perfectly." She says levitating it up out of the green tissue paper. There's a round of awe struck gasps from the audience.
"Pansy, Draco's not going to know what hit him." Marcy says clapping her hands excitedly.
"That's exactly what I said." Pansy winks at her and turns to me.
"Now I just have to find this one a suitable companion and we're set." Pity laced in her voice she rubs my shoulder soothingly.
'Oh Pansy if you only knew.' I think.
