Angella Thousand glanced at the fake gold watch that decorated her wrist, praying that Masey was still at the Charity shop, before she set off, dashing along the street, her shoes making a pitter-patter sound.
If it weren't for the heavy rainfall that occurred just a few moments ago, she would have been curled up on her small sofa reading one of the books from the charity shop.
She finally reached the MK Charity Shop after almost two close calls of hitting the pavement.
"Thank God, it's still open." She said as she pushed the door, welcoming the familiar sound of bells that hit her ears.
"Hey, I was wondering where you were. I figured you probably weren't coming because of the rain." Masey greeted, her bags placed on the counter signaling she was getting ready to leave for the day.
Angella nodded her head and said. " A little rain won't stop me. Are you leaving?"
"Yea, I have my finals in a few weeks and I taught I would just go home and get some study down."
"Good luck, I guess I can come back tomorrow. After all, I can take up to an hour to select a book."
"You can stay since you're already here. I have got a couple of weeks before finals start, plus I am doing well in school so just go ahead."
"Oh thanks," Angella said as she made her way over towards the left side of the shop where three large cardboard boxes stood filled with books almost pouring outside it.
Reading books for Angella was an escape out of reality into a world where she didn't have to think about the disaster that happened to her. Books provide a solace where Angella's worries simply didn't exist.
She looked through the first box that was to the side, but none of the books there appealed to her.
She moved onto the second box and after a minute she found a book, titled The Devil's Price. The preview tells of a story about a man who sold his sold to the devils years ago and now the devil is back and returned the man's soul in exchange for a favor.
Her joy of reading the book was short-lived after she skipped through the book and saw that the middle was missing.
Great, she thought ten minutes later, as she reached for the final book in the third and last box. I ran here for nothing.
She threw her purse over her shoulder and headed for the door.
"It was a bust, I didn't see any book I wanted, so I guess I will see you the day after tomorrow then." Angella waved at Masey.
"Angella, wait, I forgot to put this box out," Masey said as she lifted the small box onto the counter. "It came in a few hours ago, it has some books maybe you will find a book that you might like."
"Sure," Angella said as she took the box off the counter and carried it to one of the nearby tabletops without losing a sweat.
She spent two minutes searching through the box before she stumbled upon a book with her full name across it.
