he uncovered my eyes as I stood there taken back. It was actually, quite not of what I had expected. My gaze stirred from the bottom of the trunk, leading up to the beginning of the branches. There, squished between the cold and slippery wood, was a small platform; poorly mended with rusty nails. The crooked planks of wood that made up the base, led my eyes to wonder around it. Lights were strung across the leaves, making the place feel even more magical than the magic world itself. It was like a place outside of the world, where time never continued. Where even though it didn't look like much, it meant a lot for some reason. The pine and snow filled my surroundings and I took a deep breath while letting a smile creep out from under my cold ears. I laughed in disbelief that Malfoy would go out of his way to make a, well somewhat of a treehouse. I turned to him as I saw that he was standing there with his chest puffed in pride, admiring his poor work. I didn't mind though. While he was admiring the tree, I began to admire his unique features. The soft pale, olive skin that seemed to have no color at all, except for the slight redness on his ears and tip of his nose from the cold. The small snowflakes that began to get caught in his eyelashes. How his silver eyes peeked ambitiously from his face, with cheeks pulled up, hugging the crow's feet beside his pupils. He was smiling. An actual smile. I've never seen him... well happy before, as only when the Slytherin house wins a quidditch game, or he successfully makes fun of Harry without getting caught, or even if he tells a joke and receives roars of laughter. The stupid kind of prideful smile. Not genuine happiness.
I snapped out of it when he picked me up from behind and hoisted me onto the ladder.
"Draco! What are you doing!" I tensed up and I felt my cheeks burn red. He saw as the white snow contrasted with the color of my face; it didn't help the situation.
"Oh come on! You think we are just meant to stare at my phenomenal work like it's a painting? I know I did an AMAZING job, the best some might say, but you have to go in, too..." he gestured widely toward the top while laughing at his own little sarcastic remark. I shook my head at his stupidity, while subtly letting the thought of it being adorable cross my mind. I noticed it, but dismissed it right away, thinking of it as merely a way of showing gratitude toward his small action. Indeed I was wrong.
"So...what should we call this tree...thingy?" Draco brushed off his hands as we made it to the platform. I looked at him and bursted into laughing. He gave me an annoyed and frustrated look as to why I was laughing so hard. I had to catch my breath for a moment as his comment caught me off guard.
"—Tree thingy? —you really don't know—what to call this?...Malfoy, it's a bloody—tree house!" I exclaimed while catching my breath in between the chuckles that had seemed to escape my lungs.
He still wasn't happy that I was laughing at him. I guess he was to proud of his work or something.
"Fine... tree house. I still like tree thingy better." His nose was held up high in a snobbish way.
I rolled my eyes and admired the view over the tops of the trees. Tiny snowflakes slowly made their way down to the ground, piling on top of each other in an orderly fashion. This was nice. I want to stay here... my mind slowly drifted on warm sea of thoughts as I soon fell asleep again.Sorry this chapter is a little short. I couldn't find time to really write all of these since I have school but I'm trying to map out other chapters to give all of you a lovely journey across my book! :) have a wonderful day, all of you xx <3
