- "side by side" - in which hyunjin settles on the fact that he is so in love - 

hyunjin didn't remember how the fuck he ended up in this situation. he wasn't complaining, but he was also incredibly confused. when your best friend of like thirty fucking thousand years (slight exaggeration!!) ends up falling asleep on your shoulder on movie night, even though he claims to "never sleep", the normal reaction would be blushing profusely, a sped up heartrate, and this indescribable urge to pull him impossibly closer and never let go.

...right?

who was he kidding? he'd loved jisung for so long that he never knew a time when he wasn't in love. even before he knew he was in love, he loved him. sometimes fiercely, sometimes softly. sometimes it was a need for that smile, for those laughs, sometimes it burned brighter than the sun. sometimes he didn't burn for those smiles and laughs, but instead whenever he saw them, it triggered a soft feeling of contentment that kept him feeling like he was floating impossibly higher. jisung brought out jealousy, but he also brought out a slew of other beautiful traits hyunjin didn't know he had until jisung had shown him. 

...yeah. hyunjin was in love. and even if he couldn't pull jisung close like he wanted, even if he couldn't shout his feelings out to the stars, even if he watched jisung laugh, the sound so beautiful in his mind, not be caused by hyunjin's loving, he could hold the memories close in his heart. cherish them. and know that even if it was just as a friend, they would always be standing, together, side by side. 

i,,, didn't mean to make this sort of bittersweet i swear - maybe i'll write another chappie in jisung's pov? sound off on whether i should leave it like this or write an accompanying chapter, your author isn't sure ;-;
