The Summoner and Summon only stopped running when the Schnee Manor was well out of sight. Smalt, leaning against a tree to catch his breath, takes a look at the forest around him. The evergreen trees are covered in snow, icicles hang from snow covered branches. It was only now that he noticed how cold it is, cold enough to see his breath.
Smalt: We need to find some sort of shelter.
Lapis: I agree. We don't want to freeze to death.
With that discomforting thought in their mind, the duo begin their search for a suitable shelter for the night.

Soon enough, they come upon the foot of a cliff. There, they find a cave that should provide suitable shelter for however long they need it.
Smalt: This'll work.
Lapis: I just hope no one's home.
Smalt(smirking at Lapis): Don't worry, I'll protect you.
Lapis(raising an eyebrow at Smalt): Oh really?
At that moment, a Beowolf unexpectedly runs out of the cave and lunges at Lapis, who freezes in fear at the sight of the Grimm. Lapis closes her eyes, waiting for the Beowolf to hit, but nothing came.
*whoosh* *crack* *crackle*
The sound of cracking ice makes Lapis look up, to see a Beowolf ice sculpture. Lowering his right Summoner's Skill, Smalt walks over to Lapis.
Smalt(smirking): Told you I'd protect you.
Lapis huffs, crosses her arms, and looks away.
Lapis: Yeah yeah.
Lapis walks past Smalt and into the cave. Smalt watches her with concern before following, ignoring the feeling that he's missing something important. Smalt finds Lapis sitting against a cave wall.
After getting a fire started by using some sticks and a little fire Dust, Smalt walks over and sits to the left of Lapis.
Smalt: Hey, what's wrong?
Lapis(not looking at Smalt): It's nothing.
Smalt: Oh come on, Lazuli, you can't hide anything from me.
Lapis sighs, ignoring the old nickname, and turns to Smalt.
Lapis: It's just, how can you be so... so calm?
Smalt: I'm not sure I understand-
Lapis(throwing her hands in the air): You just fully unlocked your aura, used your semblance beyond just summoning me, almost got killed, and ran away from home! How can you be calm right now!?
Smalt places a hand on Lapis' shoulder to calm her.
Smalt: I think I get what your going on about. Yes, I'm happy about fully unlocking my aura and semblance. Yes, I'm happy that I can do more with my semblance and you can properly interact with the world. Yes, I'm still shaken from the attempt on my life via that man. And, honestly, I've been planning on running away for a while now.
Lapis is silent as she takes in Smalt's expression, before her thought process screeches to a halt at the last thing Smalt said.
Lapis(looking at Smalt in surprise): Wait what?
