"I'd take a Muggle over an arrogant pure-blood like you any day."Violet's eyes locked onto Hagrid's welcoming gaze, but before she could approach him, a voice interrupted her thoughts.
"You must be Violet," a boy said, stepping forward.
She turned to find a sixth-year Slytherin, his air of confidence apparent.
"And you must be the Slytherin Prefect," Violet replied, tilting her head slightly, acknowledging her knowledge of his role.
"Clever," he laughed, masking his annoyance with a forced smile. "Just like the Sorting Hat said."
"I'll show you to the Slytherin common room. Follow me." He gestured, breaking the awkward tension.
As they walked through the dimly lit dungeons, the rough stone walls loomed around them, flickering torches casting playful shadows. Violet felt an undercurrent of mystery in the air.
"That's the kitchen, and next to it is the Hufflepuff common room," he pointed out, his tone casual, yet formal.
They continued until they reached a stone wall engraved with a serpent, its eyes seeming to watch them.
"You have to say the password for the passage to open," he said, his gaze locking onto hers. "You can't go around telling it." His eyes narrowed slightly, emphasizing the secrecy.
"Pure-Blood," he declared, and the wall parted, revealing a gothic chamber bathed in moody green light. The air felt heavy with history, as portraits of esteemed Slytherin witches and wizards lined the walls.
To her left, a grand fireplace dominated the room, a skull perched atop it, surrounded by sleek black leather couches and an oversized green carpet that drew the eye. Tall windows framed the Black Lake, the water casting a captivating green hue that enveloped the common room in an otherworldly glow.
Violet couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging; this enchanting space was a world apart from what she had known.
"The girls' dorms are to your left, boys to your right," he instructed, his tone softening slightly. "You know the rules—this isn't your first time at Hogwarts."
"Yeah," she replied, still mesmerized by the atmosphere.
"Well, settle in and try not to cause any trouble that would cost us house points." He flashed a quick smile before drifting away.
With that, Violet made her way toward the girls' dorm, the weight of her new reality settling in as she embraced the vibrant energy of her surroundings.
.
"Pst, look, it's the new girl," Violet overheard a familiar voice from earlier, the girl from before, whispering to her friends.
"If you've got a problem with me, you don't need to chatter behind my back," Violet said, dropping her bags with a thud. "Just say it to my face. I don't bite," she added with a cheeky smirk, eyes glinting with challenge. But instead of a retort, the girl just rolled her eyes and stalked off, leaving Violet to huff in annoyance.
"Brilliant," she muttered under her breath, surveying the room.
"You can take this bed," a blonde girl said, her tone almost apologetic.
"Cheers," Violet replied, moving to claim the empty bed and beginning to unpack her things.
"Don't mind Pansy," the girl continued, waving a dismissive hand. "She's a right piece of work with newcomers. Probably just jealous."
