The rest of Jason's and my lunch meeting went well. We both loosened up a lot more, and I finally started eating. We laughed and talked as if all the previous awkwardness had disappeared from thin air. After we finished lunch, we moved to the bar to free up the table and had a few more drinks. After that, he finally took me home, and when he walked me to the door to say goodbye, he gave me a long hug before giving me one last look and taking off.
I sat up thinking about our meeting for a long time after he left. I was glad that we had gotten all of that on the table, but now where would we go from here?
At the moment, the question was pushed to the back of my head. I was up and getting dressed for my breakfast meeting with Marcus; I didn't have time to think about Jason when Marcus was taking up all my thoughts, and my heart had gone back to pounding like crazy trying to escape from my rib cage. I couldn't imagine how this meeting would go. As similar as Jason and Marcus were, they were just as much opposite. The feeling of butterflies was back in a whole new way.
I stood in front of my mirror, similar to yesterday, and admired myself. I had smoothed out and redid my ponytail. My makeup was a little lighter, keeping the natural tone but not overwhelming for early morning. I wore skintight ripped and distressed dark blue jeans and an oversized red sweater that hung off of one shoulder. I wore black chunky heeled lace-up ankle boots, and for my jewelry today, I went gold with a gold watch on one wrist, a thin gold bangle on the other, big gold hoop earrings, my diamond studs again, and a gold necklace with a diamond circle for the charm. Again, I looked good as hell.
When I heard the knock at the door, it was ten o'clock on the dot. I smirked at his punctuality and quickly ran down the stairs and grabbed my purse and jacket. When I opened the door, I reacted to him as I did to Jason yesterday. I said to myself, how in the hell did I end up dating two fine-ass men? Marcus stood in khaki-colored slacks, brown dress shoes, and a green sweater that hugged the muscles in his arms and chest. He had just gotten his fade, a fresh cut, and lining for his hair and goatee.
He smiled and me and said, "Well damn gorgeous." He stepped forward and hugged me close; his cologne was different from Jason's yesterday but still just as intoxicating. I smiled shyly once again, grateful for not being able to blush, as I stepped back and said, "Thanks; ready to go?" He nodded and stepped back to let me out the door as I closed and locked it behind me. We went to his Camaro, and he opened the door for me before hopping in the driver's seat and taking off. We spent the drive laughing and cracking jokes as we talked about the latest celebrity gossip.
It was a short ride to Egg Haven, where we decided to have breakfast. We had to wait about ten minutes for a table, as it was crowded, especially on a Sunday morning. As we stood and waited, he talked to me a little bit about his job. He was still at his job at the small tax company, but he mentioned that he was considering moving on and finding something different. He wanted to work at a place where he could have the possibilities of growth and promotion, and he didn't feel like he was going to get it there. Since it was so small, people rarely left, meaning that positions in higher places didn't open up very often. He said he was currently in the middle of the job hunt, having a few interviews lined up for the next couple of weeks. By the time he finished describing some of the positions he was looking at, we were seated.
Once seated, we both ordered glasses of orange juice, and he went for coffee. As the waiter went and grabbed that for us, Marcus turned to me and said, "So what about you? I know that after graduation, you planned on continuing to work for the company you interned with. How is that going?" I said, "I did stay, and I am working full time; I'm hoping to get a promotion soon, but my biggest goal right now is to start law school in January. Since I've worked there for a year, I qualify to return to school with them paying for it. After I graduate and pass the bar exam, I hope they give me one of the attorney positions."
