Chapter 1

Today was just an ordinary Fall Friday in London. It was raining, and me and my best friend Lilly went out for some coffee.

"I heard Jared hooked up with Angela at the party last weekend!"

"No way! I knew he would give her a good snog eventually. She's been crushing on him since the 3rd grade!"

Lilly is my best friend. She is tall, tan, and beautiful. Her long blonde hair flows carelessly down to her waist. Her dark brown eyes light up when she tells gossip. I've known her since we were 2.

"But get this, he also snogged Rebeka!"

"What! Oh poor Angela!" At that moment my phone started ringing.

"Hold on Lil, hello?"

"Anastasia you need to come home darling. Now please."

"Mum is everything ok?"

"Of course Anastasia just please come home ok?"

"Alright mum I'll leave now."

"What did your mum say?"

"She wants me home. She even used my full name."

"Wow sounds serious. Alright I'll call you later."

I ran out to my car and got home as fast as I could.

I walked in my front door to see my brother sitting on our couch and my parents sitting across from him. This can't be good.

"Ana good you're home."

"Mum dad what's going on? Alex what's going on?" I looked nervously at my brother sitting on the couch. He seemed as confused as I did.

"Please sit down." I was shaking at this point. What's happening? Are they separating? Did they loose their jobs?

"We have something to tell you." They looked at each other and seemed excited almost.

"We are moving to America."

"What!" Alex was furious. His blue eyes turned dark and full of anger. I've never seen him like this.

"Yes there is a hospital that needs new surgeons and are paying a lot more."

"This isn't fair! You can't do this to us!"

"Alex please calm down."

"We have a life here! Now you're moving us across the damn ocean!"

"Ana, honey, how do you feel?" I am sick to my stomach. Move? To a different country?

"I can't be here right now." I ran out to my car and cried my eyes out. I started driving, but I don't know where I'm going. I just drove.

I eventually ended up at my bestfriend Toms house. Since me and Alex are twins, Tom is his bestfriend too. I knocked on his door.

"Ana! Come in you're soaked!"

"I'm sorry to barge in I was just driving and ended up here."

"Have you been crying?"

"Oh Tom!" I just hugged him and cried.

"Hey look at me." I gazed up at him and his bright blue eyes.

"Everything will be ok. Whatever it is. You are a tough girl, we can get through it."

"I can't do it. Not this." I was almost whispering.

"Come upstairs we can talk about it."

We sat down on his bed and I finally stopped crying. It took me about 5 minutes to finally spit out the words.

"We're moving."

"Well that's not so bad Ana. Why are you crying about that?"

"To America."

"What? Did you AMERICA?"

"Yes."

"Oh. When are you going?"

"I don't know. I ran out after they said it."

"Ana I'm so sorry. That's awful."
Oh no here come the tears again.

"I don't want to go!" I can barely speak through the tears.

"Oh no Ana don't cry!"

He did something that I never thought my best friend of 13 years would ever do.

He kissed me.

"What was that for?"

"You just wouldn't stop crying so I did what I had too."

"What the hell is going on here?" Shit.

There stood Alex in the doorway.

"Alex it's not what it looks like."

"Ana stay out of this." His eyes are full of rage. This isn't going to end well.

"Alex listen she freaked out so I kissed her to get her to calm down."

Alex started to walk over to us and he is pissed. He is gonna hit him. I know my brother.

I stood up in between them.

"Alex calm down. I came over here and it's not his fault. Why are you even mad?"

"He can't just kiss you Ana. You're my little sister and I know Alex. He's my friend and he's no good for you."

"Ok one, you're older by 3 minutes and two, I don't even like Alex like that! I was emotional and it just happened!"

"Fine. Don't let it happen again."

"I'll leave you two alone to talk." I left feeling the tension. Alex needs his friend to talk about the move just like I do. I went to Lilly's house.

"You're what?"

"I'm moving Lilly. To America."

"No. No you're not. You can't leave me. You're my best friend how am I going to survive?"

"I'm sorry Lilly I have no choice." We both started crying and he just hugged each other."

"You'll come back and visit?"

"Of course! Summer and all the holidays since our family is here."

"God Ana I don't know what I'm gonna do."

"We can skype and I will call you all the time of course."

"When are you going?"

"I have no details just that we are moving. I ran out before my parents could say anything else."

"Wow and I'm the person you came to first?"

"Um no, actually. I went to Tom's house."

"What? Tom?"

"Yes. And he kissed me."

"He kissed you! Oh my God!" She seemed horrified yet ecstatic.

"Ya I know! It was weird. He did it because I was crying hysterically and he wanted to shut me up."

"I think he likes you."

"I don't want to think about that right now. I think I need to go home and see what's up with my parents."

"Ok. Text me later."

I went home and was about to find out the details that will change my life forever.
