^^ a little something to get you in the mood/to explain the last thing Laila is talking about :)
"Bye, have a nice day!" I waved goodbye to the bus driver as I stepped out, taking a breath of fresh air as the warm sunlight hit my face.
I walked down the street to my house. Since the bus stop was kind of far, I had a pleasant way to walk until my house.
School had just started a couple of weeks ago, so it was still summer. The chilled August air made me smile. The air was still and calm, and the wind barely blew. I took a deep breath, enjoying the pleasant environment.
I hummed the song we learned in Spanish class today. Stupid catchy school songs.
I saw some guy walking a dog in the distance, probably taking advantage of the wonderful weather.
He looked to be about my age, and I was seriously not in the mood for confrontation. I just wanted to go home and eat something.
Luckily, the boy chose to walk down another street that was right beside mine, steering clear of my moody feelings and me. I sighed in relief.
Another couple minutes of peace and quiet.
I took a pack of Starbursts from my backpack and ripped it open; I got red and orange ones. I happily ate the red one and held onto the orange one. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't exactly that good.
Pink and red were the best flavors.
No, that was not debatable.
I was approaching the fork in the road shortly: my street was on the left side. Just my luck, the boy from before was walking right towards me.
Where did he come from?
Why did bad things happen to good people?
I tried walking faster than I already was, but it was of no use. The boy would catch up with me; I could already tell.
I was such a fast-walker, but clearly, this kid didn't slack either.
Meeting him was inevitable, sadly.
Stop being so dramatic. You're just walking by a kid.
Yeah, so? I'm not in the mood to smile and ask how he's doing.
Then don't.
It's called politeness. Jackson would be disappointed in you.
I just had to smile, say hey, and continue walking.
It wasn't that hard...
Right?
Knowing me, I'd probably screw up somehow.
I could make conversation about the dog if I needed to. It was the cutest little Siberian Husky puppy.
I squinted, not really able to see exactly what he looked like. He seemed tall actually, taller than Akash but probably shorter than Jackson. He had a mess of curly black hair, high cheekbones, thick eyebrows, full lips, and a sharp jawline. That was about as much as I could see.
I didn't recognize him from anywhere. I was pretty sure I would've remembered a guy as hot as him living in my neighborhood.
I was kind of interested, not gonna lie.
Kind of.
If only I had been prepared to meet him, but noooo, I never listened when the girls told me to dress up once in a while.
Noooo, of course I couldn't listen.
I just had to dress comfortably.
The boy got closer and closer, and he was looking finer and finer. His black hair was curly and silky.
