We need each other.

'Not a date!'

Chloe stood patiently in Ella's lab, peering through the window every 20 seconds or so to check if Lucifer had finished the paperwork yet.

She tapped her foot in an unsteady rhythm. Ella looked up from her computer screen and furrowed her brows.
"Too much coffee Decker?" she giggled.

"Hm?" Chloe turned around, as if Ella had brought her out of a deep thought. "Oh, no, I'm just- waiting..." she flicked her head back to the window again to see that Lucifer was no longer sat at her desk.
She was scanning the precinct the with her eyes, a sense of alarm about her, or excitement, maybe? Ella really couldn't tell.

"Chlo? What is up with you?" Ella said with another giggle.

Chloe turned around slowly, her gaze now averted down towards the floor, suddenly feeling a little shy. "Well... Lucifer and I- we kinda have plans tonight..."
Chloe could immediately see Ella's eyes widen in excitement, and continued before she could say anything.
"Before you say anything, it's just dinner, okay? Just dinner."

Ella nodded in response, a huge grin spreading across her face. "Okay, okay, just dinner" she agreed. "But why are you so nervous? I thought you'd both been wanting this for such a long time!"

Ella was right, Chloe had wanted this for a while, even though she wasn't actually sure what 'this' meant, but Lucifer and her had just never seemed to find the right time or place to share their feelings with one another, and there had always been someone else in the way whenever the opportunity came about.

"Yeah, I think we have. But that's kinda why I'm so nervous. I don't wanna mess this up. Can you imagine if things got so awkward that we weren't even friends anymore? Not even partners?" Chloe looked flustered. She didn't want to lose him, she couldn't lose him.

"Chloe, listen to me" Ella put both her hands on Chloe's shoulders and spoke with a reassuring tone "I've never seen anyone look at someone the way Lucifer looks at you. It's like..." she paused to think, picturing the exact way Lucifer looked at Chloe every day. "It's like you're the only to people in the room. In the world even. You guys are perfect for one another and no matter what happens, I know that he's never gonna give you up."

Chloe smiled softly and squeezed Ella's hand, she always knew just what to say.
"Thanks Ella, how do you always know what I need to hear?" she said smiling.

"Hey, don't worry about it Decker, just be yourself!" Ella beamed as she walked back over to her computer screen, glad she could help, and equally as glad that her 'deckerstar' dreams were coming true. Finally.

Chloe smiled sweetly as she turned to leave the lab and look around for her partner, but as she swung open the door, there he stood. He had gone to walk in and the two of them bumped into one another awkwardly. He held onto both her arms as if to steady her and she reached for his to do the same as they both stumbled, giggling at their clumsiness.

Ella whipped her head around almost at the speed of light to see what was going on behind her, and her face softened to see the two of them gazing hopelessly into one another's eyes, arms intertwined.

"Uh I- I'm sorry, Detective. Didn't mean to..." he said through a laugh.
"No that's- that's okay" she replied timidly with a gentle smile, "I was just coming to find you, actually."

He tried to suppress his happiness, much too excited about the fact that she had wanted to know where he was.

"Ah, I see. Well, here I am" he said as he gestured to himself, and she smiled in response.

Before either one of them could so much as mention getting ready to leave, Ella interrupted with enthusiasm. "You guys. This right here..." she pointed at them both as she spoke "this is the dream."
