Run!, Run!, Run Angie run!
Angie was running as fast as she could with a bag full of money.
"You get back here little girl!" an officer bellowed.
"Don't stop, keep going!" Chris yelled.
This story you are about to read is about a girl's struggle to save her mom's life. The way she grew up is a way no child should live.
CHAPTER 1
Sitting in a dark alley that reaked of stinky feet and rotten garbage, Angie weeped and weeped until she finally drifted asleep.
When morning came she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. "What is this pain?" she thought to herself. She stood up and walked around.
Angie lived on the poor side of town, no rich person would dare to go.
Angie realized she was starving so she walked to Mcdonald's a few blocks away. Once she arrived she walked inside and asked the woman behind the counter if there was anything she could eat for free. The lady went in the back to take a look. She came back a few seconds later and said, "Well there's this 3 day old burger". She held it up so Angie could see. Angie grabbed the burger and walked out.
Strolling the streets with a burger in hand, she walked back to the crime scene she fled from last night. She hid behind a brick building because she spotted some police men checking out the bank she stole from.
"Hey Angie!". Angie jumped with fright.
"What are you doing here Chris?" she whispered.
"Well, I figured you'd come back". replied Chris.
Chris is Angie's best friend. He's known her since she was 6 years old. He's been by her side since she found out her mom was sick and that she has a large tomer on the left side of her brain, and her right lung was giving up on her body, since then Angie has been living on the streets.
"Have you gone to see your mom yet?" Chris asked.
"No, I'll go a litte later".
"You know, you should think about living with your dad". Chris said.
"Why would I want to live with an abusive, drunkin dad who doesn't care about anyone but himself?"
"Ummm.....gee, I don't know maybe you won't have to roam the streets looking for a box to sleep in" Chris said sarcastically.
"Whatever" Angie replied rolling her eyes.
Chris and Angie walked around the ghetto neighborhoods and talked.
"So what are you going to do with all that money?" Chris asked.
"I think I'm going to count it first, then I'm going to go to the hospital to see if they can cure my mom and if I have some money left over I will take you and my mom to another state or country and we can live together, kind of like a family". Angie explained.
Later that night, around 9:30pm, Angie went to the hospital to visit her mom.
Angie goes at night to visit her mom because it's easier to sneak past the nurses and guards.
When Angie was sneaking past the nurses she noticed there were no guards (that was a firs). She went to room 208, opened the door and tiptoed in.
"Mom, mom!?" Angie whispered. Her mom slowly opened her eyes. "Hey baby" her mom said ina hoarse voice.
" I have some good news!" said Angie, "You might be able to get cured!"
"You didn't steal the money, did you?" her mom questioned.
"Well kinda" Angie answered.
"If I wasn't sick, I would punish you right now".
"But I did it for you mom!"
"I don't care. It's not right to steal".
"Okay" Angies sat in a chair with her head down in shame.
"I think you should leave now" her mom said.
Angie stood up and headed toward the door.
After Angie left the hospital, she walked to the alley she always slept in but when she got there, she found a drunk homeless man in her spot. "Shoo, shoo!" She whispered poking the guy on his back. He jolted up and ran as fast as he could. Angie felt bad but she had to do what she had to do. She grabbed the bag of money she hid in the dumpster earlier and used it as a pillow.
Pow! Crack,! Boom! Gun shots woke Angie up. Pow! Angie hid behind the dumpster in the left corner of the alley.
The person who was shooting the gun jumped inside the same dumpster she was hiding behind. Angie got a little curious and peaked inside the dumpster. Next thing she knew a cold metal gun was pointing straight at her head. "Please don't shoot me!" Angie pleaded.
"Get in and I won't shoot"
Angie got in quickly. "What are you going to do with me." Angie asked frightened.
"Shut up!" The shooter whispered harshly.
The two of them remained in the dumpster for 35 minutes and two more to make sure there were no more cops. When they finally got out the gun man said "to make sure you won't tell a soul, I'm going to keep you hostage."
"You can't keep me hostage, my mother is sick and I have to be there for her" Angie said.
"What does your mother care? Your a homeless child with no friends. No one cares about you" said the gun man still holding the gun to Angie's head.
"I have one friend and your wrong, my mother does care about me and I care about her. Angie said in an angry tone.
"Grab your bag, your coming with me"
"No I'm not!" She replied.
"Don't make this difficult on yourself " the gun man said getting ready to pull the trigger.
Angie grabbed her bag, but before she roughed up and grabbed by this strange man she left a note for Chris that read
Dear Chris,
I have been kidnapped. Please don't
come looking for me. Take care of my mother.
~love Angie
"Can we stop by the hospital so I can write my mom a letter?"
"Yes but you have to hurry".
They walked briskly to the hospital. They stopped by the gate so Angie could write.
Dear mom,
I'm sorry but I won't be visiting you anymore.
I have been kidnapped. Please do not look
For me.
~Love Angie
The gun man took the letter and asked, "What is your mom's name."
"Her name is heather." Angie responded.
"Heather what."
"Heather Santez"
The gun man walked up to one of the guards cautiously, "can you please give this note to a woman named Heather Santez." The guard nodded his head in acceptance.
He went back to grab Angie, " lets go". He grabbed Angie's arm and held it firmly.
