Approaching Tranquility

Chapter 1

~Leona's POV~

I thank the taxi driver and slide on my red backpack on my back and drag my suitcase to the desk and a young boy at the front office of the hotel, sits on one of the seats near the door playing on his phone. I took my headphone out of one ear but kept the other in. "Sup" I said. He looked up off his phone "Waddup, I'm guessing you're the new girl everyone is talking about." He had brown hair like mine apart from mine had blonde streaks. I looked at him. He had Green-Blue eyes, slight freckles, light grey hoodie (much like mine), dark blue top, black slightly ripped skinny-jeans and Camo Trainers. It reminded me a lot about my self. I was wearing a plain light gray hoodie, blood red t shirt, Black skinny jeans, green socks with White high tops with rainbow lances. I pulled out my headphones and tucked them away in my pocket along with my phone in my back pocket. He pushed his fingers through his hair. "May as well get you to your room then. You're sharing a room with one of the most popular girls in the town. She smokes and drinks a lot and has been to jail 3 times. She is a good friend once you get to know her though." I smiled at the thought of it as we walked up about a flight of stairs. He threw a pair of keys at me and I caught them in one hand. He sniggered a bit and walked to the door and whispered "This is where I have to leave you babe" and winked then walked off. I shuddered. I put the keys in the door and it clicked open. I switched the light on and put my bags next to my bed. I put my headphones into my phone and skip to "imagine dragons - battle cry" and play it on repeat. About 15 seconds in the door slams open. A girl walks over to her bed and face plants it. I get up and shut the door. As soon as she hears the shutting the door she instantly looks up to see me. Her make up running down her face. I brush my hair back using my hands onto the left side of my head. I take out the headphone out of my right ear and look at her. Her eyes sparkling. She sits up and says "Hi- Don't take this personally but are you the person who's dad got put in jail for trying to modify you to make u more robotic and special intelligence like?" I nod my head "You could say that yes" she looked at me as if she was trying to figure something out about me that no one else would notice. I smirked and opened wattpad on my phone (4th wall break xD), as the girl starts to remove her make up carefully, I start typing speedily finishing off my chapter and pulling open the blinds with my right hand. I put my phone away putting my headphones around my neck. "What? Do I have something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that" My eyes shift colours making my cheeks go a rosy pink as I realise she watched them change. I smile at her showing the fangs slightly on my lips, pushing down on them almost piercing it. She looks away shivering and I go to the bathroom in the dorm. "What's your name anyway, I'm Leona Flare, But you can call me Leo. I call my self Leo because I'm part cat." I part my hair and my black ears flick out. I cover them back up with my heavy hair making myself look more human like. "Phoebe Lightning" She mumbles in reply. I smirk. "Nice name" I look in the mirror noticing my ears are slightly more pointer than usual. "Great." I mumble to myself. "So what made you come in on such a bad mood?" I ask her softly. She rolls up her sleeve wincing slightly as I see her skin has been pierced showing the metal arm she has under it. "Might wanna get that checked out" I say in a sarcastic tone. "Looks painful I know." I just nod instead, too focused on all the piercings and tattoos on her body. I go into her cupboard losing my eye contact with her and I grab her a dark grey hoodie and some ocean blue skinny jeans and throw it at her "Wear this instead of your current attire." She nods thanking me. "Is there anywhere I can get a meal? I'm starving" I look at her- leaning against the bathroom door. "Yeah I was just heading there myself. Make sure you stay near by me though. The boys in this town are as bad as you think they are." I nod pushing my hair back out of my face showing off the piercings I have on my ear, 9 and counting all the way up. Including the two in the ear lobe.

I wait for Phoebe to get changed and we head around the hell hole to the food hall. It's as large as a football field. I gasped in amazement. She chuckles slightly at my expression. "Get used to it kiddo". I think to myself, 'Once this has all the tables and chairs away I could use it to practice my skating. I smile lowering my tone as much as I could and lowered my head slightly. I started to follow Phoebe around the food hall as she introduced me to all of the hotel staff and residents. I was starting to feel a little more at home before people started mumbling conversations about me, my past and my appearance. My ears clicked into signal with all of them being spoken at once over and over again. "Shes different" They mumble. "What is she doing here she doesn't belong here". I close my eyes and take a deep breath making all the voices quiet down. I slowly open my eyes again shifting them to being a dark ocean blue colour with a tint of yellow sunrise in them. Phoebe chuckled and threw me a packet of cool original doritos, a tuna and sweet corn sandwich and a bottle of water. "Thanks" I mutter under my breath keeping my head down making sure my hair covered my eyes. I could feel peoples smirks around me. I shivered following Phoebe again. She led me to a group of people who were all smoking outside. I put my headphones back in and sat next to the tree in the shade compared to everyone else in the sunlight. I opened the packet of crisps and sandwich hungrily and ate them. Purring slightly, smiling. I felt a presence sit down next to me.
