Hawk
Fists were hammering on doors rousing me from a fitful sleep. I leapt out of bed pulling my jeans on quickly and throwing my cut over my bare torso. I poked my head out into the hall to see three Prospects banging on members doors trying to wake them. Something bad was happening. I turned back to my room to grab my piece stuffing it in the back of my jeans.'We're riding,' Maddox roared as he thundered down the stairs with an anxious looking Spider and a murderous look Blade following him closely. Beast, JD, Arrow and I fell into step behind as we rushed down to our Harleys. I had no idea what was going on but my gut twisted painfully as Charleston Appartments loomed into view. We pulled up outside and Spider leapt off his bike and rushed inside the rest of us followed him.
'Maddox was going on?' Beast asked as we took the stairs two at a time.
'We think Mels been attacked. The Prospect, Spider left here to watch over her hasn't checked in.' Maddox answered.
Dread had settled in the pit of my stomach. Spiders sister, Mel, had gotten herself tangled up with the Serpent gang. We had helped her get out but unfortunately things turned violent and we'd been waiting for them to strike back. Venus and her son lived in this building and if there had been a gang attack I needed to make sure they were okay. As we reached the fourth floor, Spider was already standing out in the hall with his arms wrapped tightly around his sister. Beast crouched down to check the pulse of the Prospect laying in a pool of blood on the floor. He shook his head slightly when my eyes met his.
'What happened Mel?' Maddox asked.
Mel was sobbing but Spider answered for her. 'Aunt Martha and Mel heard the gunshot and locked themselves in the bedroom thinking it was an attack. They don't know why but someone busted into their neighbours apartment.'
'Hawk,' My name was uttered in a strangled sound out of Mels mouth when she caught sight of me, 'it's Bell, the blue haired girl you asked me to keep an eye on.'
No sooner were the words out of her mouth I was moving across the hall into the apartment with the kicked in door. I flicked the lights on in the entry and my gaze zeroed in on a few drops of blood scattered on the floor.
'Venus!' I yelled a cold panic was gripping at my heart. How stupid could I have been to start shit with Montarrio last night and then just leave her here unprotected. I tore with the apartment yelling and cursing as their was no sign of her. A locked door gave me hope. I knocked on it. 'Venus, please Venus are you in there? It's Hawk. It's okay now. I'm here,' I tried to gentle my tone. The click of the lock reached my ears and the door swung open before a small body crashed into mine.
'He took her!' The body sobbed hysterically. 'My mum she's g-gone.'
I picked the young boy up as he clung to me crying and carried him back to my waiting brothers in the hall.
'Dylan! Oh sweetheart,' Mel called to him. The boy leapt out of my arms to hug her tightly. 'Thank god you're okay.' She murmured as she stroked his hair.
'Montarrio,' I spat out in a growl when Maddox's questioning gaze landed on me.
The boy, Dylan had quietened his crying now and turned his tear streaked face back to me. 'I didn't help her. I just hid,' the anguish in his voice stabbed at my heart.
'It's alright son,' Maddox said as he placed a hand on the boys shoulder and nodded at me. 'We'll find your mom and bring her home.'
A few other club members had joined us by now and we all nodded our heads. Arrow and his twin brother Bow stayed behind with Spider to watch over the boy, Mel and Martha.
'Blood will have blood!' Blade demanded as he swung the lifeless body of the Prospect over his shoulder and stalked down the hall. The promise was repeated by us all as we headed out. As we thundered towards The Midnight Lounge the only thing running through my head was how I was going to make Montarrio pay!
'MONTARRIO!' I roared as my brothers and I stormed into the strip club itching to break some bones. 'Get out here you fucking coward!'
'What's going on?' The bartender called as she cautiously approached us with her hands slightly raised.
'Where the fuck is your boss?' I snarled.
'He left a few hours ago! Now why don't you calm the fuck down and tell me what has crawled up your ass?!' she hissed at me. The Prospect we call Friday coughed out a laugh at the young woman's attitude but quickly fell silent when Beast smacked him upside the head.
'Look there's not really time to explain it but he took Venus. Do you know where he would be?' I asked.
'What do you mean he took her?! How the hell did he get past you are your muscle army over here?' Her eyebrows drew down into a frown as she gestured at the club members standing behind me.
'She wasn't with us,' I replied guilt dripping off every word.
The small woman threw her hands in the air, 'you're telling me after you came in here last night waving your gun around and dropping my girl in the shit you just left her to deal with the repercussions by herself! Un-fucking-believable!'
'Josie? What's this all about?' A blonde woman asked as she emerged from Montarrio's office.
'I'm quitting Casey! Good luck finding a finer piece of ass then me to tend the bar,' the bartender, Josie, spat at the new arrival. 'Come on boys. Let's go get our girl!' Josie called over her shoulder as she walked past us.
