Chapter Fourteen

"That was amazing." James said lying next to Danny.

James had wanted to do that with Danny for such a long time and here they were. God, he wanted to scream how much he loved Danny but he felt it was too soon for something like love. At least it was too soon to say it for Danny who already had plans about the future. This wasn't the time to make plans or anything. This was the time for now to take precedent over every other thing.

"Yeah, it was." Danny said as they looked at each other.

"Beautiful..." James kissed his boyfriend as they cuddled and closed their eyes.

"Yeah, I know." Alice said smiling as she talked about her auditions for the fifth time with Christian. "But thank God I got the part."

James just looked at the ceiling and kept thinking about Danny. He knew he was in the honeymoon phase. Thoughts of Danny would float around and around his head all throughout the day. James wanted to be with him. He wanted to kiss Danny in the hallway and he was going to keep that promise.

James felt so happy, so complete, and the now felt complete too.

So the days went by. Everything seemed so completely perfect. The uncertainty that Danny felt was gone and the days kept going like a blur. James felt like this could be the happy ending. This is where he wanted the now to end. Danny next to him as they were on top of his car looking at the stars. This is exactly how he wanted it to stay.

Beautiful...

"How are we?" James asked smiling at Danny.

"Pretty fucking great." Danny turned to look at James.

"Summer is close." James smiled at his boyfriend. "I was kind of hoping that maybe you and me could go out to the cabin that my parents own."

"That sounds amazing." Danny looked at James.

"Also I kind of want to tell you something." James looked into Danny's eyes.

"What?" Danny smiled.

"Happy one month, beautiful." James kissed him passionately. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

And so the night was perfect. They felt invincible.

James felt like he had found the one.

James looked at his watch waiting for Christian to hurry up. Of course, he was late. But James waited on his best friend.

And waited...

And waited...

He sat on the bench about to give up when he heard a familiar voice. It was Alice looking a little bit tipsy.

"Oh, why isn't it the handsome jock James?" Alice giggled. "What're you up to handsome?"

"Waiting on Christian..." James looked at her with confusion spread across his face. "What're you doing in the boy's locker room?"

"Trying to get me some dick." Alice whispered in James's ear.

"So basically looking for Christian?" James chuckled.

"Basically..." Alice sighed and after a couple of seconds of silence she looked at her ex boyfriend. "Do you still love me?"

James just looked away from Alice. He couldn't stand to see her like this. She wanted him so badly but he was in love with Danny and that was it. That's who he wanted. Who he was willing to give his life to...
