The piercing wind stung my body like a dagger cutting through skin. I couldn't feel my face, let alone drive myself home. Looking for my car keys I felt a cold hand touch my shoulder. It was the owner of the club, asking if I needed assistance. I told him I was fine even though at this moment in time I wasn't. But he still insisted on taking me home in his car. I knew that this was the wrong thing to do when he later grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him. Fortunately a woman saw what was going on and quickly came to my offence, and boisterously attacked him. She ran off into the distance before I could even say thanks, but maybe she had some place to be.
I flashed my phone torch all over the car park after searching for my lost belongings. I couldn't find my car keys nor my car. Everything was a blur after that. But I do remember finding my keys on the floor of the car park, and in the end finding my car with the boot half open. If I wasn't so heavily intoxicated I probably would've been more concerned, but I just got in my car and headed home.
Of course I know it was wrong of me to drunk drive, but I couldn't trust anyone. After my friend Emily left me at the club, I felt so vulnerable being alone. I don't think she meant to leave me there, she was honestly more drunk than me. But she is used to these sorts of bars and clubs, I'd rather stay at home. So after leaving with some of her other friends she invited tonight to head to another bar, I immediately wanted to go home.
The blinding traffic lights affected my vision and caused me to have a sudden huge headache. Attempting to focus on the road my concentration was lost when I heard a phone vibrate at the back of the car.
"Olivia you're just overthinking and it was probably just a speed camera or something beeping going past" I told myself but then I felt a shiver go down the back of my spine when I remembered that the boot was half open when I found my car at the club.
What if someone broke into my car and left their phone in here? I wouldn't think so, I mean my car isn't exactly the most luxurious of things to steal from. It was my grandad's before he passed away. It's pretty old and rusty but it still works great, and it makes me feel closer to him. I never really got along with anyone in my family apart from him, even my mum and dad. They weren't horrible or anything just strict and distant towards me. As a child I would mostly stay in my room, until weekends when my grandad would take me to his bakery.
Mandeville Bakery, my second home growing up.
Grandad would let me take as much food as I wanted and even serve some of his customers. We used to make the most delicious ginger bread biscuits for Christmas together. I miss spending Christmas with my family. Ever since I turned 16 I was off to university to study business and economics, I want to own my own business like my grandad. I haven't spoken much to my parents after I left, I can only rely on Emily who I met at university, apart from my grandad I have never had a closer relationship with anyone in my life than with Emily. I'm now 18, still studying and working hard to earn enough money to buy my grandad's bakery back. After he died the authorities just left the building, it's almost like it's invisible to the rest of my town.
Anyways I'm getting awfully side tracked, so where was I? Oh yeah someone could've broken into my car.
My mind was spinning in circles. I was trying to get home safely but at the same time reach for the back seat, foraging for what could be a phone. I had no control over what I was doing.
All of a sudden a felt a huge jolt.
As I screamed in pain I realised I had hit another car.
I was frozen stiff and in shock. My life had just flashed before my eyes quicker than I could lift a finger. I didn't know whether to cry or scream for help.
Although doing these things put me at ease, nothing could've prepared me for what happened next...
Thanks for reading my first chapter! More chapters are soon to come, including a confused and sinister side to Louis...
