When Mahiru woke up the next day, all the calm around him made him think that yesterday's evening had been just a dream. Or rather, a very realistic nightmare.
But now the sun was high in the sky, little birds were singing in front of his window, and above all, there was no sign of supernatural. So he got up in a good mood, and caught his clothes when he saw the scratch he had made the day before, trying to escape a certain flying vessel. . . .
Yep. That was definitely the reality.
He hastened to take a shower and change and ran down. His uncle had already left for work, and the only living creature besides him was an adorable black kitten came out of nowhere, spread out on a cushion in front of the TV.
What the hell is this? Mahiru thought, amazed, as he approached the little thing.
"Hey kitty, where'd you come from?
-Meow," the animal said, looking at him with boredom.
-. . . okay. Obviously, you can't answer me. "
But how did he get in? All the windows are closed.
Leaning towards him, he saw a small gold bell tied around his neck with a red ribbon on which was sewn the word "Silent demise". After a moment's reflection, he naturally concluded that this was his name. There was no other information about him or his owner. The rational Mahiru thought that if the cat was really lost, its owner would put up posters in the city, or it could go home on its own. Until then, he could leave it here, couldn't he? Gently lifting him up, he took him to the kitchen and put him on a chair before starting to prepare breakfast. The feline miaowed of spite, visibly staring at his cushion, and then absorbed himself in the contemplation of the teenager who ran to every corner of the kitchen armed with a frying pan. His eyes lit up with a red glow, which disappeared when the brown teen turned towards him.
"Are you eating pancakes?"
If I saw vampires the night before, I wouldn't even be surprised.
The cat raised an interrogating eyebrow before turning his back to lick his paw, which Mahiru took for a no. He returned to the stove, mentally noting to himself to buy some kibble if this animal planned to stay. The morning passed in total calm, so much so that Mahiru almost forgot about the current problem. . . until a message from Misono reminded him of it.
"See you at 4:00 at the Latte's Coffee Shop, we need to talk about last night. "
Just reading it reminded him of bad memories. Looking at his watch, he decided to do some cleaning before getting ready, because it is well known: nothing like a good cleaning to change his mind! ( If one liked to clean, of course. )
Side ( nickname by Mahiru) seemed very upset when the brown removed him from his cushion again and spat before jumping on the couch. His frosty look made the teenager understand that he did not intend to move anytime soon. Sighing, Mahiru went back to work and turned his already clean house into an even cleaner house (do you feel the subtle difference?). He then put on his shoes and coat, and then headed to the cat.
"You stay here until I get back, okay? I'll be here in about two hours.
- Meow.
-Okay, see you all at once!"
