Oliver's POV:
It takes me a minute to steady my breath. I soon realize that I'd had a panic attack in front of 2 FBI agents. Stupid. They must think you're weak. What else could they possibly think? I hide my face in my hands, not saying anything. Spencer spoke up, "Oliver, could you tell me what that was about?" He spoke so gently that I almost started crying again.
"N-nightmare.." I lie. I know it was a flashback, I just don't want Derek or Spencer to think me that weak. "You sure kid?" Derek asks carefully. I don't respond. "Kid?" I flinch. He wasn't so careful that time. Apparently he noticed because a second later, there's a hand on my shoulder.
I've lost all control of my emotions. I scream, scaring the 2 men beside me. "Oliver what's wrong?" Derek asks firmly. I just sob, not trying to say anything. "Spencer, get one of the girls." I hear him order. Spencer leaves the room, not being quiet at all. Apparently I screamed loud enough to wake the entire floor.
A woman with longish blond hair walks in, apparently in quite a hurry. "Hey Oliver, my name's JJ. I'm with the FBI, like Derek and Spencer. Are you okay? I heard you yell, and Spence came to get me." Spence..? A nickname for Spencer? "Yeah, I'm okay.." I'm a good liar, okay? I can't help myself sometimes! She knew I was lying though.. unlike Spencer or Derek. She knows something is wrong.
JJ's POV:
I'm in the middle of going through some case-files and I hear a yell. What the hell!? I instinctively pull out my gun and inch closer to the door. Someone knocks on my door. I look through the peephole and I immediately relax when I see Spence. I open the door and he looks really nervous. "What's going on? Who yelled?"
He doesn't take the time to answer. Instead, he takes my hand and walks me down to Oliver's room. The kid that had run away from her abusive home. I feel bad for her, I really do. She was the last person we had expected to help arrest our unsub, so we had kept her with us. "Is she okay? What happened?" Spence explains what happened and I immediately realize why he brought me, of all people, to help her.
I crouch down in front of her, making sure I don't get too close. "Hey Oliver, my name's JJ. I'm with the FBI, like Derek and Spencer. Are you okay? I heard you yell, and Spence came to get me." I explain carefully. She seems to think about my statement before answering, "Yeah, I'm okay.." I'll admit, she's a good liar. But she doesn't know I'm better. "Yeah? Well, do you want to talk about the flashback? That is, I assume, why I'm here, right?" I shoot a cleverly timed look at Spence. He knew too.
Oliver's POV:
What the hell?? How did she know?? Did Spencer know too?? I start to panic again. "Wh-what? I-I.. How did you-!?" I managed to mumble before I realized I was panicking. I try to take a deep breath, failing the first time. "Um- I-I think I'm p-panicking again-" I croak out. My mind immediately started going full panic mode. "Help... please- someone. anyone! help-" I hadn't realized I was talking out loud but boy am I glad I was.
JJ gently set her hands on my shoulders and makes eye contact with me. That helps me calm down a lot, believe it or not. Eye contact was the one thing my foster parents never gave me, so it wouldn't remind me of any disappointed stares. She takes a deep breath, nodding for me to follow. I successfully take a nice, deep, breath.
"Thanks-" I start, but she interrupts. "You don't need to thank me. It's okay." She said sweetly
