This is the story of Nikolai Makismov detailing events that are currently taking place. Begin the story:

I have always been very in touch with the spirits around me, ever since I was a child. Even when I was a child, I had a variety of paranormal experiences, even through my teenage years into adulthood. When I began dating my girlfriend, I would tell her all about my scary stories, but I've never been quite as unnerved as I am now. Especially now that my skeptic girlfriend is creeped out too.

Lately, when I've been upstairs in my office, my girlfriend will walk to the landing and ask if I called for her. Usually, if I want something or need to ask a question, I call her cell phone, so these occurrences always struck me as particularly odd. Even when we're in the same room, she'll sometimes look at me and ask me to repeat what I said. I had initially been asking myself whether I'd been losing my mind and saying things I hadn't intended to, but I never noticed any lapses in my memory or other common signs of such things.

Since the quarantine started, my girlfriend would often pull her headphones off and ask me, very angrily what I wanted, even if I haven't spoken a word. It's gotten even worse lately. Sometimes she'll get me bottles of water and insist that I asked for them.

I don't know if this is just my poltergeist getting a voice or if it's something entirely new, but it's scaring me a lot. Neither of us has a history of mental issues that could cause this. Should we be concerned?

End of Story.

I've always been very skeptical of people who lead their stories by saying things like "I've always been very in touch with spirits" or "my family has a history with the catholic church," as those who are predisposed to believe in the supernatural often exaggerate their stories. Even so, taking this story at face value, it's somewhat difficult to easily debunk. Schizophrenia or Early-Onset Dementia are very real possibilities, particularly for the girlfriend, as she's the one hearing the disembodied voices, so I encourage her to undergo a psychological evaluation.

Notably, this story mentions an occurrence that is often ascribed to "mimics". This is a type of entity that appears rather frequently in stories featuring the paranormal. Its hallmark is its capacity to imitate or "mock" noises commonly made in an area. Assuming this case is indeed entirely credible, it's very possible that such a phenomenon is taking place.
