Chapter 3

side note: sorry guys, I promised this way earlier. I had been busy with school and etc. anywaysssss

As Leo and I walked in the forest, I looked around. The woods magically captivated all my senses, they felt like I was in some fairy tale, like something was about to happen, maybe finally a new chapter of my life story in which I was actually happy?

Leo looked at me "Regina, your highness, are you tired? The portal is very close it's just around those trees". He gestured to the very young looking trees which leaves were the color of lightest green. I looked at him, his blue eyes staring deep into mine, as though he truly cared and became greatly puzzled why he seemed to be. "No, I'm fine. Thank you, Leo". He smiled warmly, reaching out his hand to squeeze mine. My breath got caught in between my heart and my lungs. Everything seemed so perfect about him, like I knew him for ages and as though he was someone very close to me.

When we walked to the lime colored trees, he took out his wand and waved it in the air two times with the words of a name, which closely resembled "Monsteriopolis". The trees began to open up a road, and he pulled me in there. As we walked in, I heard very faint voices" o queen!" echoing everywhere, then something little flew up very close to my face. I tried swatting it, but Leo asked me to stop. The creature shrugged itself off and started speaking. "Hello Your Highness, I am Elfina of the Royal Isles. Do you remember me?" I tried recalling that name from my memory when Leo answered "No, Elfina, she doesn't. Don't you remember she is cursed?" Elfina nodded and looked at me with pity in her little eyes(I was able to see her outlines a little better). "I wish you weren't. This will be harder than..." And with those words she flew off. Leo looked at me and whispered. "Fairies are known to have mood swings, don't worry about her. She'll be back to normal soon." I smiled and thanked him. Yet, I wasn't upset with Elfina's tone, it were her words, which left me with an uneasy feeling. "This will be harder...", what will be? And what is "this"?

After Elfina flew away, the fields of green and vast flowers, turned into rocky blue mountains with ice white clouds. I heard singing with the same words"o queen!". I looked at Leo who was staring at me, I had forgotten that we were still holding hands and upon realization I unclasped my hand from his, a subtle blush swept across my cheeks. "Your highness, do you recognize this place? It's okay if you don't, when you're home the highers will help you remember." I shook my head. I didn't. Eventhough this place was so remarkable, so captivating, giving me lightness in my heart. I wanted to run, play with the snow on the ground and watch the clouds move in a dance with the sun. As I thought those thoughts a little polar cub came out of a nearby cave, it hurried towards us. I was about to grab onto Leo in fear that the cub's mother would soon come but instead of being afraid Leo walked over to the cub and hugged it. It hummed out with delight and rolled once with Leo. I came over to the happy pair. The cub looked at me with crystal blue eyes and unclasped from Leo to run over to me and rub against my school uniform's skirt. I patted it on the head, thinking that if Leo wasn't afraid so shouldn't I.

Leo came over to me, "His name is Colin. He is the kindest polar bear cub and my faithful friend. We all have an animal that is connected till death with us. I have this polar cub, as you can see. Can't say I'm upset with that!" I smiled gently at Colin while Leo spoke. Then I looked up at Leo again and asked "What do you mean we all have an animal?". He obviously liked my sudden interest for he replied with eagerness "It's a ceremony in which your personality traits are seen through an animal. I'm a loyal, a responsible and a dependable soldier of this Kingdom, thus this polar bear cub. He'll grow up soon and be my faithful soldier. You were supposed to have an animal at 16, but since you weren't home, you don't. Don't worry though. While we walk whatever animal closes you, stays with you. That's what the highers told me. I'm excited to see what animal chooses you!" I smiled at this, I always loved animals! Leo continued "I bet you're wondering how old I am. I won't keep you guessing. I am 20 years old. So this cub has been with me since then, well except for this year, since I was sent to look for you. I think he missed, I hoped atleast 'cause I for sure did!" With those words he hugged his friend again. Seeing this side of Leo made me feel some type of way for him again and that made me smile.
